The Voucher Code Will Not Work

I cant see anything from my account - unless I'm looking in the wrong place.

Can anyone please confirm where I'm supposed to be looking ?

its not just 50 posts, its a yr and 50 posts, either way a person is waiting 6 months for MM access with 1000posts or 50 posts over a certain timescale

I hope thats the case. Sorry if that upsets people, but all I've seen lately are new members just posting for the sake of it, or having a rant, or whatever, its been going on for months. I just get the feeling that people are joining and posting because they have nothing to lose, and a well priced (in the current climate) GPU to gain. How many posts are in the gigantic 3080 thread, with 'see you later, got my gpu, good luck everyone' and they're gone!!

Many people have been part of OCUK both active in these forums or not, but still 'long' standing customers. And I feel it should be those people that benefit from Gibbo's efforts. The people that make this place what it is, be it active/helpful in these forums and/or loyal customers to the shop.

I'm ready for the hate, bring it on :D And yeah its easy for me to comment as I've been here a long time, (like thousands of others) and I'm running a 3080 courtesy of OCUK. (but I was hammering F5 at 2pm 17th Sept like the rest of the planet :D )

You won't get much hate, most people here are of the same opinion regarding the voucher deals. I got bit as had to register a new account as couldn't restore my old one but I'm not too fussed. I think it will be fairly easy to spot someone spamming 100+ messages a day to get in MM lol

Thing is it's poor practice.

Why should anyone NEED to be part of a community to be able to buy a graphics card?

It's like OC doesn't want to make any money, I get it wants to look after long time customers bit there are other ways.

Someone with 10,000 posts on these forums could have bought 1 motherboard 7 years ago, whilst someone who doesn't use the forums may have an office business who's spent 10s of thousands in the same time

Two problems:
1. Bots snapping up stock as soon as it is launched. To stop that would mean re designing the software for vendors to have a system that is not first come first served. Sounds fundamental change and expensive to produce.

2. People who have bought the cards then listing them for sale at a higher rate. Comes down to customer vetting or trust.

I don't like the customer posts idea either but I can see how it has a chance of getting the cards to gamers rather than scalpers. I suppose people who have a plausible purchase history - every n years they are buying a MB/GPU/CPU/Mem are highly likely to be genuine but to carry out that level of vetting would be a manual process for every *potential* purchaser.

FYI I'm fine with it.

If they only cared about making mo eh they'd just list the cards and let the bots buy them. Hell, it's an even better deal for them - no warranty issues to deal with!

Funny how everyone who doesn't like the idea is below the required post count isn't it.
Funny how everyone who don't mind it is above.

Like I said I understand why, there's just other ways around it. I've been a member here for 11 years, being stopped buying a GPU that's showing 10+ in stock for over 2 days now because of post count is ridiculous.

I've no idea how long this idea has been going but clearly now most, if not all these *elite members* now have GPUs as stock is not selling

If it was just about making as much money as possible they would list the prices at just under a scalper price and not use any discount codes. The comments about losing money on each of the 3080 backorders indicate they do have a commitment to keeping their customers happy.

The 1000 post limit is frustrating especially when your mainly a lurker but it stops the scalpers and bots mostly. I love the detective skills people are using the flag the scalpers haha.

Whilst I definitely agree the code scheme is a good idea to get gpus in the hands of mostly gamers however atm the LHR cards don't seem to be moving that quickly which would suggest either most of the elite members have cards or don't want LHR cards.

have you posted in the forum content discussion section of the forum? We maybe able to help with your old account.

This one is an easy one. A few bots have spent £10k too when they bought without entering a voucher code. Spending £10k means absolutely nothing.

And your point about 'wanting to make money' also means nothing. These cards are selling out instantly to bots and scalpers. They may as well be sold over a slightly longer window of a few minutes to real people instead to avoid exacerbating the issue.

Exactly.

I think that's more to do with the fact it's 600 quid for a 3060 rather than it being an LHR card!

The 3060 on the voucher code was 450 quid, which is much more reasonable.

Not really - OCUK tried a public code and it was leaked and exploited by bots/scalpers. The forum isn't really capable of supporting any other solution either.

Posting the codes to the members market has demonstrated that those who have access to the MM can be trusted (on the whole, there have still been a couple of naughty people but they were caught and banned and overall much less of an issue than public codes).

I've no idea how long this idea has been going but clearly now most, if not all these *elite members* now have GPUs as stock is not selling

All of the voucher code cards have gone - there is still plenty of demand among MM members and a lot of us are waiting for better cards than the 3060/6700/3070s.

Stop being salty that those who have chosen to contribute to making this one of the best tech forums have been rewarded for doing so and you have not.
