Do you NEED that card, feeding the scalpers

I don't need a new card button really really want one. I do use my PC for work but graphics don't play in to it but yeah most don't need a card. I still have a 1080ti that can play things okay but I'd love to crack on a 3080 ti

@Roff - I wouldn't write off RDNA 2 APUs just yet, look at how much CPU and GPU processing power was crammed into the PS5 and Series X.

Even the Series S is a very impressive machine for the money, in terms of framerate. Apparently it can handle 120 fps at 1080p resolution in many games. The graphics chip has 20 RDNA 2 Compute Units and utilizes 8GB VRAM. The APU also includes an 8 core CPU.

The Series S APU is much more powerful than existing APUs for PCs and laptops. I wonder if we might see a similar APU build for PCs in the near future?

You can actually buy one now for £250 direct from Microsoft's store. I would guess they sell the Series S at a small loss...

It might be just our ego of having the best in business thing. TBH if you exclude RTX and moderate to 1080p@60fps, something out of competitive fps, a GTX1080 pulls enough in anything :D.

Until some of the idiot's in the PC gaming scene stop treating not having a GPU (or PS5 or Xbox) as some sort of personal human tragedy on the same level as a family bereavement, Scalpers will provide a ready home to such prices.

£99 trade in at Game until TODAY (14th) - how I got my model S. Traded my old Xbox One... The S is very nippy.

I missed out on the all the FE drops, 3060 launch, 6700xt launch, 3080ti launch and most recently the 3070ti launch (probably need a new F5 key as well). So I've just bitten the bullet and paid a what is said to be a silly price for a 6700xt. Fair enough but I couldn't wait any longer and my 770gtx which I rescued from 'the drawer' after my old and trusted 970 went to silicon heaven was really struggling with most games I wanted to play. I did get the XFX QICK version so its probably one of the better ones and at sub £700 (all be it a £1:)). I'm actually ok with this, I know it's over the odds but for the extra couple of hundred paid I will get back over the next year in enjoyment and when all the dust settles will probably upgrade next year.

I am running an ultrawide 3440x1440 too so the 770gtx was really struggling. I was having to play in windowed mode (elite dangerous) just to get any sort of FPS. Now I have the 6700xt it opens up a whole new world and I will probably re-subscribe to game pass again, and actually have a playable experience on FS2020 in high settings.

So it wasn't really third world to me - although I totally get your sentiment. Had I had anything 1080 or above, like you said I'd probably lower quality settings and soldier on until everything calms down. Some kids just don't know they're born with their swanky 3070's :D

I wouldn't say I need one just yet. I've currently got a 1050Ti which I've not overclocked and I'm currently sticking to console gaming to ensure that it has survivability until the GPU drought ends.

But I am determined to not buy from scalpers, they're just like ticket touts before them... Scum of the Earth!!!

all i see is want want want, very very rarely a gpu is needed, what is the urgentency for a new gpu?, to me its spoilt child syndrome or to be scalped. i feel sorry for those that need a card as they being shafted by greed or i want i want(spoilt child) ppl. its sorry state of affairs

I was playing ACC with an old 770. God, I was even playing flight simulator.

The thing is that I wanted to get into VR, and my 770 wasn't enough, obviously. This is my main hobby now, where I met with friends every week and I have a laugh, so for me it was really worth it. I was just very unlucky that I couldn't upgrade my PC when I had more free time and I really needed it. Didn't pay a single pound to a scalper though, no way I was going to let someone take advantage of my misfortune.

Did I need it? Of course not, no one needs anything really, apart from food and water, this is just a hobby as any other and I wanted to enjoy it while I can and not wait for three years to be able to join and play with my friends, that's all.
