Wait for RTX 3070 or buy RTX 2060

Hi all,

I recently wanted to build a desktop, and am currently waiting for chances to get a RTX 3070.

PSO2: NGS is the only game I am currently playing. (Well, I am unable to play it now with my old 2015 Macbook pro so wanted to build one.) Of course, I would like to play some other games in the future so want to get a GPU that can last longer as well. I am not really fussy about the graphic quality. Medium is fine for me.

Now, here is my question.
It seems like I will be able to get an RTX 3070 soon, and there is stock for RTX 2060 on the website.
The MSRP for RTX 3070 should be around £650 while an RTX 2060 card is available on Oc now at £450.
I am thinking whether I should take just take that RTX 2060 instead of waiting for 3070 as the chance to get one soon seems to be quite small.

What do you guys recommend?

Thanks in advance.

Either wait for a 3070 or get a rx6700xt but i would wait till fsr is released next week and see how it sta ks up

Both are about 40% faster than a 2060 why spend all that money and stick that in as your engine

If your only playing games shunt the budget a bit the 5900 is overkill

RTX 2060 is already underpeforming in many games mostly due to having only 6GB VRAM.

2060 will sttutter a lot if you will exceed 6GB VRAM usage and even at 1080p it can be easly done in newest AAA games.

Wait for 3070 and don't waste your money on 2060.

Even with DLSS, the rtx 2060 will struggle in a lot of new games (WD: Legions for example), so why bother?

If you buy a new 2060, you would just be rewarding NV for selling an old product, likely at high profit levels.

Been there myself yes it seems like the best option right now because they're in stock but I'd really recommend holding out for a 306ti or 3070. 3060 is also better but wouldn't recommend paying the price for it, better to wait imo

Absolutely wait and go for the 3070. If you can get the FE at RRP, or another card close to RRP, it's a price / performance is excellent.

.

Depends what resolution you are planning to use.

My two kids have RTX 2060 and RTX 2060 Super @1080p 75mhz and they are perfect cards for 1080p. You can even dial down the settings a bit anyway but they are more than enough for 1080p and 6gb VRAM is fine for 1080p.

The one you quoted is now £499 and there is a Gigabyte at £469 these are really original release prices for that card. If they were RTX 2060 Super's then I would say consider it but they are plain RTX 2060's which by now should be about £200.

I dont know where you plan to get a RTX 3070 from but you wont get one for £650 more like £850.

The 2060 seems too expensive to me relative to the performance it offers. I think right now the non TI 3060 is possibly the card I would buy if I had to buy one today. It seems to be fairly readily available for only £50 more than the 2060. At MSRP it's the weakest of the 30xx line but these are strange times

2060 is great for 1080p, pulling anything up to medium-high settings, BUT 450£ for one is overpriced. A 2060Super with OC can get in line with a 2070 and sounds more attractive if you ask me. However, if this a must buy now, then a 2060 is better than nothing :D.
If you were asking to buy a 2070 or wait for 3060, the answer was simple, "yes".

I agree with those above, the price 2060s are going for are way over priced for the performance they provide. If you could hold out for a 3070 to become available, even with a slight premium its probably worth the wait.

The easiest thing to do is to buy a CPU with an iGPU included. If you wait till august, you will be able to buy a Ryzen 5000 series APU, that should get you by in most games at 1080p, while costing very little. If you can't wait, you could buy an older APU.

iGPU prices haven't been affected much by mining and low availability so they are an easy choice.

You don't really need a graphics card right now, you can just buy one later, who knows maybe Intel's XE graphics cards will bring some more competition. It's easy install a graphics card at any point, as long as you buy a decent power supply.

Also, Ethereum mining will not longer be possible in 2022, so availability should gradually improve.

LOL :cry::cry::cry::cry: Did you read what you put ?

Waiting for a 3070 is like saying how long is a piece of string. You cant wait for a 3070 to become available you have to actively go and try and get one.
I agree the 2060 is overpriced just depends how desperate you are for a graphics card.

Personally speaking from experience if it was me I wouldnt buy the 2060 as its not a super and I wouldnt get a 3070 as they run too hot. I would go for a 3060ti but then again same boat as a 3070 there are none.
