Inflatable hot tub / spa.

They are which surprised me. Had the Vegas (5 person I think, but realistically, its 3 people)
Pretty comfy (bottom is padded) and they hold the heat well.
I guess the only downside is that they are fairly noisy when you turn the jets on and they are not as powerful as a proper tub.

We got a proper one last year after having the inflatable for 3 years. The seals had gone in the pump unit so it leaked a fair bit. A friend took it and replaced them so now its good as new again.

We were given one by the father in law. He doesn’t want it back and told us to sell it. Don’t want the hassle of trying to make it work although I do need to put it up once to check it works before we list it.

If we ever get a tub will have to be a full one as heard they are a lot more efficient at holding heat and with a bigger volume to make balancing the Chems easier.

We had the Vegas for several years when we lived in Cyprus, absolutely loved it sitting in it of an evening looking out over Troodos. Had to descale the heating elements a couple of times to stop it from tripping the ring mains

Ive just bought one of these - Lay Z Spa Milan - and tonight was the first proper try. Very pleased with it. It’s a 5 person but that’s pushing it. For two adults and two kids it’s perfect.

Takes a bit of prep to get the chem levels right, if you go by the book. I know some people don’t bother and have no idea what their chlorine/pH/TA levels are from one use to the next. I’m not taking the chance with little people’s skin, so it means I need to make sure the levels are good in advance of the wife wanting to use it.

I was very much against the idea of inflatables and associated faff, preferring to get a proper hot tub instead. However as we’ve decided to move house I thought I’d take a punt and make the most of the fine weather. Should have bought one ages ago, so nice after a day of WFH.

we got the lazy spa paris at a great price out of B&M a couple of months ago. We made an insulated base for it out of kingspan, put in a round inflatable "melon slice" under the lid for extra heat retention when it's not being used and it's great.

It's supposed to be for 6 as well but again that's pushing it.

They're probably not as good as a hard shell but pretty good for the price

Reliability wise, it’s about how you store it away over the winter months and properly prep it for storage like blowing out any excess water etc. Water chems need checking once a day even if not being used also.

Had one for 4 years and for the price feedback from my wife was that its great (I'm not a fan of hot tubs in general, I get far too hot!). Heating element blew about half way through 4th year of use, but for the price I;d definitely recommend one.

About 2°C per hour ish.
We would fill it one evening and by the next it was ready. Outside temps have an effect as the insulation isn't great but ours didn't lose much when we were in it.

Indulge my curiosity: how long do these things take to heat up from cold?

As above, a good day, depends on the heater though tbh as well.

If I was getting a 'portable' one I'd get a foam walled one rather than a blow up, they hold the heat a bit better, naturally cost a bit more

I never understood this, surely the winter is when you want an actual hot tub?

Yep, but I think the really cold temps affect the electrics and the walls of the tub due to the lack of insulation.
Down here on the south coast is not an issue, but a month of snow in Aberdeen will ruin it.

Weve still got our pov spec Intex one from Aldi, cost I think 300quid and we've well had our use out of it.

The included mats are normally junk, just a roll of bubble wrap haha.

Put these under mine:

Onstead of it sitting straight on the patio and I reckon its well worth doing similar

As for heating it up, Check ya water hardness first eyeball some TA+ (or sodium bicarb) and fill direct from the hot tap :)
Much more efficient that heating it all in the hottub.

Once that's done give a good shot of chlorine granules and let it bubble for a bit to get everything dissolved.
I'd then let is sit for about 4 hours or so and retest for ya Ph
