6700 XT only viable option south of £800???

I would rather pay £1600 for a top end 6900XT and then £150 for a new PSU to power it than pay £700+ for a low end card. The 6700xt should be £300-350 max or £400-500 in crazy times. Its starting to look like consoles are the only way to go:-(
Agree, but i would not consider it low end. For me it's a mid range card which is around 40% faster than a 5700 XT. When you see how it performs at 1440P, it is definitely not low end.

That is, unless you consider a 2080 TI/3070 low end also? Because it's in their ball park.

What is wrong with the 2060? Turn some settings down!

Not allowed to post what I really think about someone considering spending £800 on a 6700xt

I'd contemplate selling the current laptop and picking up a Legion 5 Pro or similar.

I know the mobile 3070 is a bit slower than a desktop 3070 but the Legion 5 Pro doesn't cost much more than just the desktop GPU and you'll get a big CPU and screen upgrade.

Aye, trust me, I'd call myself the same... But my trigger point for something like this would be about £600... Some retailers just knocked 100 off them down to 699 now... few more weeks might be seeing the 599's... maybe.

Just hold tight. Etherium mining slowed down, some ppl barely break even, it will turn around. And when market correction kicks in then u see we will have the last laugh.

It will be interesting to see how the price of the RTX 3080 holds up when ebay inevertably gets flooded with 1000's ex mining cards

could go down the toilet but can you imagine how dodgy some of those cards will be

not everyone who mines looks after things

Im interested in market correction: when manufacturers pumping to much stuff into the market oversaturating it then have to wait sometime for it to correct and balance itself. It is an interesting phenomenon and very dangerous for manufacturing companies.

I remember the case study from many years back with hoover vacium cleaners and free tickets to america. What a **** show that was.

Yeh pretty much. Ignore anyone that tells you to pick up a 3070/3080 at msrp. Between everyone on discord stock alerts and the bots, you’ve got maybe 1 in a thousand chance of getting one on a drop.
What I would say, with lockdown easing and the summer, fewer and fewer people are willing to pay scalper prices for cards. You’ve only got to go over on ebay and there’s hundreds and hundreds of 3080s on there and just filling up day by day. People are getting fed up and moving on for a bit and I reckon the bubble will burst within a month or two. See if you can hold out

These prices are here to stay, this trend has proven the amount that people will pay for a GPU, and with 5nm cards set to cost just as much if not more, prices wont go back down.

Isn't Etherium supposed to be moving from Proof of Work to Proof of stake?

Do you think that will mean a reduction in Gpu mining or will there be just be a shift to another currency?

l depends if other coins are profitable to mine, there are a few atm close to eth, ETH 2.0 is next yr, though its going through stages atm

@OP I own a 5700XT I looked into the 6700XT, the perf is about 18 percent higher which would be a nice uplift (for me) if I could get one at msrp. looking at the price per frame, the 6700XT is not worth it at current price. It is probably your only realistic option for card that is widely available but really isn't worth it. Maybe a 5700XT on the cheap is a better option for a mid term and see what happens to the market in 6 months. Honestly it all depends on how desperate you are.

Problem is the 5700XT price has rocketed due to being much sought after by miners.

It appears to be accepted that the AIBs are not manufacturing at full capacity due to shortages in the supply chain and taking into account that the worldwide queues and demand still exists, we seem to be a long way off oversaturation.

The 6700XT is priced crazy high but for 5700XT owners it could be a cheap upgrade as the 5700XT sells for silly money (£600+). It could be a < £150 upgrade. I still would not do it but if I got £600 for my 5700 after fees then it would be ~£100-150 to upgrade and get a new card with 2 years warranty. Unfortunately i just don't want a 6700, I would like 6800XT but they are never in stock.

I was thinking about this myself...part of me would feel dirty trying to offset the cost of a new card by using the market as an excuse to charge stupid money for something that doesn't have a warranty. I know in the end people are doing it and I loose out, but I just would feel sh1t3 about myself. I also holding out for a sweet sweet 6800XT that will probably never happen....

I was going to bite the bullet and get a 6900XT + PSU and keep it for 10 years(haha) but it just went up £100 overnight:-(
