How much extra would you pay for superior Raytracing and DLSS?

None of the games i play use DXR in a meaningfull way (shadows) or at all or use DLSS . Its kills performance and needs upscaling fudges to be useable.

^... Nvidia and AMD

RT is the future and if we want better looking games they will make us pay for it in hardware and software.. As a consumer you can decide what is worth paying for and vote with your wallet, there is no magical figure how much you or others will pay, as we have seen with the GPU market now. GPUs are selling 2x 3x and 4x their MSRP.. Value is down to the customer at the time.

Technology costs money to make at the end of the day and doesn't magically appear, so more buying a certain technology the more the companies making it will invest in it, no buyers means they will phase it out. So far with RT it is looking like a product the consumers want and clearly by all the new games coming up supporting it the game companies agree it will be a money maker too.

DLSS and FSR to me are bandaids to a problem of lack of GPU performance for people wanting high refresh rates at high resolutions when having all the eye candy set to ultra settings. They are also a good technology to have and use when needed.

Ray tracing, I really struggle to see a difference in the fidelity but even if I could the frame rate hit is too much for me to turn it on.

DLSS seems like a decent feature and although I only used it for black OPS for a couple of hours it seemed like free performance to my eyes. Hoping AMDs version turns out to be decent.

Its always on a game to game basis. Cyberpunk is the big one though. All the ray tracing settings on in that game and its night and day.

I'd pay 10% for superior RT. Not a single penny for DLSS, as it's a blurry mess compared to native 4K.

Certain screenshots look great with DLSS, though these are cherry picked to the extreme. When sitting in front of it, it's clear when DLSS is used, as certain areas are simply blurry/buggy.

I'll bite when it's usable on a budget card. Ray tracing isn't a replacement for solid game design and my favorite games are not "realistic" looking anyway

Nothing, I wanted an AMD card but couldn't get one at MSRP. Eventually ended up with a 3080.

So far have barely used DLSS or RT. I expect I will at some point but next year or two at least neither is a must have for me.

You're in the minority there TBH it's usually the other way around this gen from what I've seen. Lots of people went AMD because they couldn't get an Nvidia card. I do wonder If fine wine will strike again and the AMD cards will end up being better performers long term though.

They already are, 6700xt retests with newer drivers are puzhing it closer to a 3070

Agree with this - taking a 50% FPS hit to turn RT on was worth it for me, but then the lighting effects and environment in CP really lend themselves to showing off RT (loads of bright neon lights, reflective & wet surfaces etc.). However I don't think I would have spent 50% more on a card to maintain the FPS if that were an option. Maybe 10-20% extra at most (so I guess similar to the £100-£150 others have posted)

Could always play at 1080p upscaled to 4k...

The AMD cards are pretty strong, RT aside. (I game at 1440p)

At the time I kept trying to get a card from AMD at the MSRP, they were pretty much impossible to get. Only managed to get a 3080 FE through pure luck.

I wouldn't pay anything extra for it. From what I've seen the only times it's noticeable are when the none RT images have been nerfed to provide a crap experience without it like with CP2077. It's another feature that demands an awful lot from hardware without delivering a game changing experience. It feels like tessellation, AF and AA did in their infancy and the performance penalty vs the 'improved' image quality seems far from worth it.

I don't see why you would need or want to pay extra for RT or DLSS they are features on specific cards, would you want them removed and pay less ?
