3080ti or 6900xt for Battlefield 2042 and warzone ?

hmm

this might be the same case? what do you think?

god... why is it so hard to find a proper cpu bound benchmark for these gpus... im going crazy over here :D

this video seems legit though? at 4k they tie up, like you would expect. at 1440p, there is a good %20-25 difference and lower gpu utilization on rtx's side, pointing to a bigger cpu bottleneck

ok video seems to be legit. but couldn't find info on what cpu he used

if i find the time i will mess around with my 3090 and 5800x @1440p on warzone (gotta admit i dont like the game that much) and I will let you know the results.

but single benchmarks are pretty much meaningless, i'd say don't bother if the game is not installed (its also a worthless game for me)

we need two people with completely same cpu bound settings, one having a 3080+ gpu and other having a 6800xt+ gpu (of course both people should have a minimum of zen 3/highly oc'ed intel cpu for minimum confusion)

it would be best actually if they queue duo together so that everything will be identical

but admiteddly, nvidia gpus can also become more gpu bound even at 1440p (due to inferior rasterization performance against rx 6800xt and upwards)

Summary -
  • AMD high FPS when using low image quality and low FPS when using high image quality.
  • Nvidia high FPS when using low image quality and high FPS when using high image quality.
I'm surprised Nvidia's superior Reflex technology hasn't been brought up yet.

I usually play battlefield V quite a lot, always had somewhat low % utilisation on Nvidia cards, even on a 5800x CPU, was even worse on my old Ryzen 3600 paired with a 3080 months ago, (i play 1440p, ultra settings, RTX off), to be honest BFV always always had better performance on AMD cards even before this GPU generation.

Yeah that does look like it, in BFV at least.

I'm not a fan of Warzone either. I like to run and gun, and that's something that usually gets you killed in Warzone. :p

Very interesting threadbut im surprised nobody has suggested 6800XT as from what i've read theres very little perfomance difference from the 6900XT.

nooo!! you gotta max out them visuals, use them rt effects to their max while playing an all out 64 vs 64 battle!! you have to use dlss in tow too!! this is an eye candy game where you're fighting against mindless bots so there's no problem getting 80-100 fps!! who needs locked 144+ fps on a competive conquest shooter amirite?

Haha stop it, there's enough crazy on display in this thread already. :p

Shock horror that some people who spend ££££ on their pc might like to get the best visual quality and don't care about their k/d....

Pretty much

Go on about how 6900xt is "superior/king" then when shown proper comparisons from all POV "zOMG, nobody cares, competitive l33t play" in which case, why it's even matter in the first place which gpu OP goes for.... OP should save some money and get a 6800(x)/3080 instead..... Popcorn worthy!

Personally not a fan of amd/nvidia anti lag feature, battlenonsense done a decent video comparing them, warning contains factual information to back up claims ;) :p

Probably because 6800xt is not in stock anywhere.

My 6900xt is faster than the 3080FE I had in my 3d mark benchmarks (Timespy eg around 3000 points more) so I expect the 6800xt to be the same. Unless you are saying the 6800xt is faster than a 3080 ? :)

It puts in a good showing @1440p ( obviously not with Ray tracing)

I'd avoid Nvidia. Having switched from them to AMD I can safely say the driver support is massively better in terms of options, understanding what those options do, and the UI used to configure it. It takes a dump on Nvidia's poor excuse for software, basically.

I nabbed a Sapphire 6900XT MBA, which is just a reference model, and I'm still occasionally shocked about how cool and quiet it runs. I've stressed it in Battlefield 4 and 5 as best I can, but at 1440p the card is just stonkingly good.

The downside is that for now, raytracing is not really an option for 4K, and it's debatable at any other resolution. I don't care; I don't have time to admire the shinies in fast-paced games. If you do then perhaps Nvidia is the right choice. I'd also ignore the DLSS/FSR debate unless you're running a 4K target resolution.
