Yup, typo!
True. I'm not convinced that bmw are that accurate with their power figures, my last car had similar hp, but 500nm of torque so was reasonably quick, especially considering its 20 years old. But my older car (which granted was twin turbo) was and felt much faster. The e92 seems to take an age to accelerate in comparison, even starting at 4,000 revs. Not to mention an E92 M3 will do that 1/4 mile in 12.8/12.9. Almost 3 seconds in quarter mile terms is big margin
I can only imagine 600bhp feels epic for quite some time, and probably quite scary until you got used to it.
You get used to it stupidly quickly and then you're after the next "adrenaline hit" from more power
I find that I actually enjoy taking passengers for a spin more than just solo driving as you get to enjoy the power vicariously through them despite you feeling more immune to the acceleration.
Power? Meh. Lightweight is the way to go, follow Colin Chapman's virtuous circle and you don't need big power. I had a scooby and started to upgrade it and get more power, but then did an experience day and drove a Formula Ford which converted me to the ways of the lightweight car.
Mate took me around Silverstone on a trackday in his Radical racecar (he put a second seat in just for the day), best thing I've ever been in. Acceleration in a straight line was pretty impressive (think is was around 250bhp and around 3 sec to 60), but it was the speed in the corners that was ballistic. Nothing could get close to it.
Taking my Caterham through Maggots and Becketts at full speed, feeling the car just start to move on the edge of traction. Nothing comes close.
Seems a bit of a boost over standard, must be getting on for double the power. Wonder what will go bang firstLad at work had a 600bhp+ civic type R, after about 3 weeks he took it back to the rolling road as he felt the power had disappeared. Still kicking out the same figures but as you say, just got used to it.
on UK roads....it's a waste
anything more than a pushbike on uk roads is a waste.
That's true. I was doing the school run earlier and the state of our roads I could have done with a tractor
in honesty i have notices a lot of road works going on around here now.
i dont get why they dont schedule road works when the schools are off that way you done get massive traffic jams which cause more pollution.
