Long shot but does anyone know what the silver pipe is in the first image with the hole worn in it?

General area of above image(in gap top right of intake pipe)
)

The aircon packed up last year even though it had been completely refreshed a year earlier as part of the head gasket recall. Ford insisted it just needed regasing and charged 85 quid for the privilege, due to covid (i.e. not going anywhere far!) and the crap weather I never really bothered checking but sure enough it's knackered again.

Just wondering if hole worn in pipe and aircon knackered are related! I've never had to regas a aircon system ever before and I'm forming the opinion when it had the head gasket recall done they ballsed the aircon up!

Be cool to know before talking to the not so local dealer (local shut down that did the last regas) as I don't want to go down the regas see what happens route again..

Cheers, Marc

Most reputable places will do a pressure test before regassing the system so if that pipe is part of the aircon system it should show up.

Hard to tell from the angle, i picture more over the top would help, but that ribbed shielding is what Ford puts on clutch cables.
the AC pipes are usually on the cambelt side

**edit it's the shielding for the hydraulic clutch line

hmmm kinda looks a bit different on mine? There is another pipe right next to the holed one?

Looks like a clutch cable, they have two, one for forward back (ie 1st to 2nd) one for left right.
can you move the silver stuff at all?

this is a stock 2.3 rs clutch cable

Cheers, you guys look to be right. clutch cable/sleeve it is...was hoping for an obvious problem with the aircon. Prob just take it to a local aircon place then rather than dealing with Ford!

Sorry! It is nice when you find an easy fix.
