RX 6600XT, launching in August with 5700xt/1080ti performance at $399usd

https://wccftech.com/amd-radeon-rx-...s-price-nvidia-gtx-1080-ti-performance-rumor/

Not sure how to feel about this, I sold my 1080ti in 2018 for about $400 - 3 years later with the same price and performance and that goes for the 5700xt too, same price and performance. It's not so much the performance that's the issue it's the price
They probably leaked a higher price and when they will come up with $349 on launch day, everyone will think AMD is helping the poor gamers. :)
Plus it is more likely that we will only see AIB cards and they will be more expensive than the price announced by AMD anyway. It is not worth more than $299 and that price is already high.
I said it before, AMD is right now even greedier than Nvidia they want to make a lot of money fast. None of their cards is sold at a fair price if we compare them with Nvidia offer ( and Nvidia cards are already very expensive ).

The question is: When will be able to get something better than a RX580 for £200?

Got a rx 480 here so almost the same, been five years since this card came out and even pre covid there wasn't anything offering much of a upgrade in the price bracket

Yes, even the RX590 I have is barely better. Price/performance has been stagnating for the last 5 years at the very least, my wife's HD7970 is still a semi-decent card yet it's approaching 10 years of age...

There was a period where Vega56 can be had for around £240 (and with free game I think). It is around 50-60% faster than the RX480/RX580, but most people would have missed the boat if they didn't get it back then. Also the RX5600XT that was faster than the Vega65 was also available at under £300 at one point.

But yea if we were to talk about strictly the sub £200 segment, performance in that price range have indeed staggered.

The RTX3060TI has a $399 RRP,and demolishes a GTX1080TI:

You can actually get a limited number at that price too.

The RTX3060 is also only a few percent slower than a GTX1080TI at $299:

Sure, its hard to find GPUs at RRP,but unless the GPU market massively settles down by the RX6600XT launch,it too is going to be overpriced. Even the RX6700XT RRP is $479,and is significantly faster than a GTX1080TI.

Might be that the price is based on the current market. I can't believe they would sell them at that price if the rest of the market drops below it. Though its still just rumors so who knows.

If you are prepared to ship from China, ex mining RTX3060 are going for $220

The generational increases are, quite frankly, amazing for the 3000 series. I mean who would've though back when the top dog 1080Ti came out that in under 4 years that you'd get a better level of performance from a XX60Ti series!

Well, given that the XX70's tend to be on par with the previous gen XX80ti models, and the xx60's are never far behind the xx70's I think its more expected than surprising after two full generations.

Market is fudged and AMD has stopped selling cards at a cheaper price.
They are the market leader so make no sense to sell cheaper.

the 3060ti is pretty much a Unicorn in the uk

so the rx6600 comparable to the rtx 3060 /ti
