TIP again.

Straight in and reversed to non recyclable and green shutes - dump and away - almost back to normal.

Even paint dump and battery bin is open along with waste oil. Good old days

:D

Yes, if only everyone would use the facilities though instead of the constant fly tipping.

Apparently here you can't take black bags.
We have these tiny. Bins that get collected every 2 weeks. But you can't take any excess to the tip. No idea what people do because how big families manage I don't know.

We are lucky in the fact we can take anything along provided you put it through the correct shute.

Our Black house waste bin was filling so took a black bag full plus other bits from shed clear out - I scarified one lawn today and if I had put it in green bin it will be full by end of week and there is a week and half to go before it's emptied.
All the staff at Whitchurch recycling dept are great - helpful and usually cheerfull.

Mate over the road is a family of five and he jumps in his bins and packs them down - even he has to go to the tip in the week.
All free on your council tax.

We get a bigger bin due to there being five of us, still a struggle, but no way we could get by on the normal size ones

The government slapped a huge tax on skips and waste disposal. Skips used to be dirt cheap, now they cost a bomb.
In some counties it's possible to dispose of stuff for free but in others you have to pay.
What these "rule makers" don't get is that they are really the source of fly tipping. The more expensive and difficult they make it to dispose of waste, the more people fly tip.
I get that we need to cut down on waste but making it difficult to dispose of waste is not the way to do it. We need to tackle the problem at source and ask where and why is all this rubbish coming from, not where is it going to. The "going to" part it should be managed not just taxed.

I still can't go to the tip in Bristol due to our wheelchair accessible van being above the currently permissible size, and to add insult to injury they announced they won't be collecting garden waste for ten weeks due to staff shortages. I have just paid my renewal and had put out my two bins full today before I heard it on the local news. You can guarantee there will be a load of extra bonfires in the next few days now too .

Just get an extra recycling bin (round here it's blue) and load that up. I'd say our general waste bin is normally about 75% full every 2 weeks, but both recycling bins are normally full come collection time (also 2 weeks). This is a family of four.

Ive been going since they opened last summer. Annoyingly I cant use my 'local' one, as Dudley council and Wolverhampton council cant agree a deal, so instead of going 2 miles to the coseley tip I have to go 6 miles to the Stourbridge one. They operate a booking system round here, it works really well, my 1st trip last summer was a nightmare, 2 hours in the queue!

Also annoyingly im missing my volvo SUV, I could shift so much stuff in that, moving to a Saloon wasnt the best idea for tip runs.

Ours is still booking only. It's good in a way because at least when you do go it's quiet, however if you want to book within the next 7 days you have to be refreshing a lot.

Tbh the only difference for me has been the reg number scheme odd number on odd calendar day ,ditto with even ,no excessive queues
Also i enjoy going as my local one is in Tintagel (well near Trebarwith strand beach) but i also do Newquay so i can surf or mooch after

That sucks, our tip takes them in the "non-recyclable" skip

I'm glad that its not just us who can't seem to get through 2 weeks without filling our bin either.
Often 4 weeks as well when they just fail on a collection and don't make a catch up collection in between.

It's mainly the chickens! I usually bag the waste up and dump.
If you can't take rubbish to the tip.. And it won't be collected.. What else can people do but dump or burn? Couldn't believe when found the tip wouldn't take it.

You'll never make it into power with an attitude like that.

.....sadly.

What sort of rubbish do the chickens make?

We've got a skinny wheelie bin and it gets collected every 2 weeks, but between the two of us it's rarely more than 2/3rds full.

Our paper and plastics/metal bin is almost always full.

Come to Sheffield, the inhabitants are still moaning, 5 years on, that the council went to fortnightly general waste collections like every other authority around Yorkshire did 5 years prior to that.

My local tip has been open for most of covid. No need to book. Generally a 2 minute wait, except Saturday which I always avoid.

They check ID now, as it's locals only, and queues are way down on before. The tip men told me they used to get loads of people coming from Cardiff, as their tip facilities are not good.

Booking system still in place here and limited to one visit a week, not helpful when trying to clear the house for a move :)

Yeah that's where I am. They make it really difficult to take rubbish. I'd never fly tip. But I can completely see why those who don't care do
