Royal mail signed for

Yes I realised my mistake quite quickly, was going to ask the seller but they sent it within an hour of buying. I thought they would send it by special or a courier..

Spoken to eBay and they said it would be covered by eBay money back guarantee. However I take the reps words with a pinch of salt..

He said they would contact royal mail in this case. Knowing RM they would say it was delivered to X coordinates. Grr.

Fair enough, pain in the **** and hope it is sitting on a neighbours table for you.

This is the last time I'm going on holiday without a ring doorbell.
I love my Ring doorbell but it doesn't work that well for answering the door to a courier. By the time your phone has woken up and registered the doorbell has been rung, the courier is usually in their van and driving off. It's great for recording things though so you can prove whether an item was delivered.

As others have said RM are using the excuse of the pandemic to make signed for not needing to be signed.
Someone sent me a parcel and on the tracking it said delivered when no one was in. They put it in the garage with no note or anything (i've not set a safe place).
Then with work i had sent a phone, tracking said delivered (with scribble of a signature) but it wasn't at the guys house or any neighbours. 4 weeks after I sent it, it turned back up at the office.

They should rename it as "Slightly More COmpensated for but NOT signed" ;)

Have you tried the Rapid Ring app... its a few seconds faster... I use it like a Doorbell app :-)

TBH Nest Hello is fast on Android phone and its own Nest Hubs (Gen 2), but eufy cams take forever to appear on the Hubs.

Got my parcel the other day fine when postie rang and I was about 1min away so told him drop on doorstep and I be there in a mo, same RM service as topic.

Wasn't aware of that. Will take a look. Thanks.

Not sure if its Android only but also be aware that you will get double notitications so you need to switch off the ones from the Ring app and just use the Rapid Ring but you need both apps installed. I like it. Gives me enough notice when wife comes home to move away from keyboard "No, I've been working in the garden, just came in" :-)

Not to deliberately be a downer for the sake of the OP but I’d always recommend special delivery rather than the ‘signed for’ service. ‘Signed for’ just doesn’t seem to work. Every single time, personally or at work, they’ve ****ed it up. It’s like they’ve created a product to cater for a budget audience but then failed to actually develop it.
they were self signing special delivery anyway during covid....

2 weeks back he knocked with one though so maybe they ended it, but he asked me if he should just keep self signing them and I said yes.

Wow. Got home today. Looking everywhere for the package but find a signed envelope on the floor, rip it open and its a government covid 19 letter. Think nothing of it and keep looking. Call ebay and say I haven't received it... then I check the tracking number of the envelope and its the same as the processor. This scammer has sent me a covid 19 letter instead of a 5800x.

Raised a case on ebay.. then raised one with PayPal, but then ebay automatically closed the case as I forgot the seller is now technically ebay as you don't pay the seller direct anymore. PayPal looking into it but will take a week at least.

a week? .....surely it's a 5 second job to check the tracking and see the package is a few grams? a graphics card is over 1.5kg boxed no?

you'd think AI would automate the basics by now

I know. Its a processor but he only paid £2 postage for signed for delivery, and it was also addressed to my neighbour instead of me (my name though)

They should take it back to the sorting office for you to collect if there is nobody at home and put a card through your letterbox

Bit annoying as I was on the phone to ebay saying I haven't received anything then said I had received something when I realised. Hope that doesn't screw me over!
