Royal mail signed for

"Signed for" is a complete waste of time/money nowadays. Its not fit for purpose you should be Special delivery or better.

They should rename it as "Slightly More COmpensated for but NOT signed" ;)

Thats the thing its no more compensation if lost etc than a regular parcel

He also put a return address on the back of the envelope, I just find that weird.

Probably told to do it at the post office counter they'll pick up on that typically if it doesn't have a return adddress.

COVID really did change how companies deliver....

For no good reason really. I've been in a fair few countries since the outbreak, and everywhere I had a delivery it was a normal service just with wearing masks. Mostly you didn't physically sign, but the courier just takes down your ID card/Passport number.

This is completely bizarre OP. Sorry to hear this. Hope you get sorted straight away.

I was following another thread where many forum members were stating ebay is buyer-focused and the seller mostly loses in a dispute. Hopefully you get your money back at least.

Is the covid letter definitely from the seller?

Yeah definitely. It was a sealed envelope and the tracking number on the envelope agrees to the one he added on eBay. It is bizarre.. but I think the scam is for the buyer to think nothing of the letter and throw it away, not realising and then the seller to come back and say it was delivered etc and then you have no proof of what was received.

They should take it back to the sorting office for you to collect if there is nobody at home and put a card through your letterbox

This is what happens when i miss a RM delivery.

Some other couriers have left deliveries with a neighbour, but not always.

Hope you get this resolved.

Wow, that's quite the scam. What kind of reviews does the seller get? Maybe some similar feedback has been left that would strengthen your argument against ebay.

All positive feedback, even some recent. I can't leave feedback until at least 7 days. He sold 3 of these 5800x on the same listing.

Special delivery is better for sure but I had two parcels that were sent by the same seller that were special delivery and they were left over my side gate and near the bins. I got them perfectly fine thankfully but they were obviously not signed for by me and if they did get nicked it would have been a pain for both me and the seller!

They shouldn't be signed for but they should be left with a named person at the address.

Compo for signed for is £50. Regular post its £20.

We advise people at post office that postman will put parcel by door, knock on door wait for parcel to be taken in then sign the pad themselves. If no answer they have to take it back to thr sepot.

Now this has been sent as a standard 2nd signed for letter. Assuming the post office clerk checked the size of the letter you can prove the CPU wasnt inside as the letter thickness can only be 5mm. Nowhere near thick enough for an AMD chip with pins. If it was retail boxed then it should be a parcel size.

Hope you get sorted but hopefully you have his details from ebay so can start some sort of court proceedings.

Yup the picture was the retail box so should be parcel size.

eBay have changed their business model. You no longer pay the seller directly so the PayPal dispute I have raised is with eBay.. not the seller. There are business details of the seller on eBay but not sure how accurate they are.
