Hello All,

My pc build is currently as follows:

Intel Core i7-10700K + CoolerMaster MasterLiquid ML120L V2 RGB
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 10GB
Corsair 750W TX750M
ASUS PRIME Z490-V
be quiet! Pure Base 500 Window - Black

16GB Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 3200MHz (1x16GB)
Seagate 500GB BarraCuda 510 NVMe M.2 SSD & Seagate 2TB BarraCuda HDD

I have a couple of questions so I hope you will bear with me! :)

- I would like to get another stick of 16GB ram and run them as dual 32GB + I would like to get another nvme m.2 1TB and run that along with the current 500GB SSD + 2TB HDD.

* I've had a quick skim of the mobo guide but I'm not 100% sure so could someone please confirm that I'll be able to do the above upgrades without any issues? No extra cables needed for extra ssd nvme?

* By adding the extra ram/ssd am I going to need more power?

- I would like to upgrade from 1080p 144hz now to 1440p 144hz with a monitor costing about £300. Does anyone have any recommendations for that budget? I'd like either 24-27" ideally but wouldn't want to go on the larger end if it meant sacrificing quality/performance etc.

* Should I go with a display cable over hdmi for the res increase? I don't think the hdmi cable I currently have is only the high end. Will this come with the monitors or am I going to need to buy it seperately?

Thank you very much for your time! :)

Monitor.

No idea which cable it comes with probably hdmi.

There are a couple of others around your price range but check out reviews before you buy.

Thanks very much for that bud, looks good! It's coming with both types of video cables. Does it matter which one I choose to use? HDMI or Display Port Cable? Also I know that there are different types of HDMI/Dport and depending on which res/hz it's important to get the correct type? Will the video cables that come with the monitor allow for the specified res/hz advertised or is it up to myself to buy the high tier cable if needed?

Are you able to help me with my RAM and SSD questions if you have the time?

Personally would use the dp cable as it does slighty higher bit rate but not to sure if it will make much of a diffrence . Both cables will achive the monitors resoloution and hz.

Memory you have 1 x 16gb stick which is not ideal you can try to get another 1 x 16 gb of the same and then run both in dual channel mode. Otherwise get 2 x 16 gb of memory you want and sell the 1 x 16gb whichever works out cheapest for you.

Adding Another m2 drive will be fine but it may disable a sata port on the motherboard so check the manual. You dont need to spend crazy money on an m2 the western digital sn 550 offers excellent value to performance for £90. 2tb cost about double and no extra cables needed with m2 drives.

Thanks very much once again!

I will go for 2*16GB RAM in dual!

Thanks for the recommendation! I wasn't sure whether they needed to be the same model for the ssds. Will go with your suggestion to save a bit!

By sata port do u mean potentially the sata port where my hdd is connected to could be disabled? Is there a chance that they will all be disabled resulting in me not being able to use the hdd along with both ssds?

Also I don't need to mess with a higher PSU? Still should be OK?

Appreciate your help, thanks!

Your welcome.

If the port is disabled you will just need to move the cable to a diffrent sata port thats active and the hard drive will work . You will know wether or not when you fit the 2nd m2 drive.

Check the user manual.

Adding more ram and an m2 drive will barley increase the power demands so nothing to worry about .

Let me know how you get on with your upgrades or any further questions.

Nice one mate! I'm thinking of getting the 2TB version of that ssd you suggested. I can see the speeds are slower compared to its 1TB counterpart and the seagate. I was just wondering if we are looking at this through loading in times of applications and games, are the differences significant or are we talking seconds?

Next to nothing 1 second max if that, those read write speeds are only releavent transfering large data from one fast drive to another fast drive .

DisplayPort 1.4 is superior.
HDMI 2.0 can't do 2560x1440 144Hz at 10 bit colours.
(without scrappy chroma subsampling super lossy "compression")
While DP1.4 would do 200Hz.

You should also know that if you prefer darkened room that LG just isn't good with seriously low contrast for IPS.

Thanks for the info! Do you have any alternatives? I can potentially go up to £400? if it's going to be worth it.

Thank you!

OK thanks. Maybe I missed something when looking on the website but isn't the monitor also 1000:1 contrast?
In case of LG advertised values is some copypasta marketing.
That LG's first gen? (because 4K panel has normal contrast) Nano-IPS panel with 2560x1440 resolution has really bad contrast for IPS and measured values have been from sub 750:1 to sub 850:1
https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/lg/27gl850-b
https://tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/lg_27gl850#detailed_response
That makes LG poor choise for anything but normally illuminated room.

AU Optronics IPS panels again usually have above specified contrast.
