Walking and cycling prioritised in new Highway code.

We once saw a cyclist jump a red light and get hit pretty hard right outside the office. The police arrived and blamed the cyclist as he was being dragged in to an Ambulance.

What does need changing is the punishment for cyclists killing pedestrians. They get a very light sentence compared to death by dangerous driving. It should be equal.

As usual, you talk out of your backside so nothing new there. Here is an article just the other day https://road.cc/content/news/cyclist-who-killed-london-pedestrian-jailed-two-years-285247. Then there was the high profile case of the moron on the fixie that killed the woman who was a phone zombie and walked out into the road without looking who went to jail. Considering there are about two people killed a year by cyclists, luckily it’s a rare occasion.

Death by dangerous driving is up to 14 years, it's on the same level as manslaughter. 2 years (probably out in half that) for killing someone through their own stupidity is pathetic.

Many more get injured by cyclists. Way more pedestrians get hit by them than cars. Most people avoid walking in the road, but it won't stop some **** on a bike hitting you on the pavement.

Really so the odds of a person dieing by an idiot on a bicycle travelling at 20mph is equivalent to an idiot travelling in a 1.5ton+ vehicle both deemed driving dangerously is equal in your mind is it? I think it’s you that is being stupid and pathetic.

So someone being wreckless and killing someone with a bike is somehow ok to be basically just a slap on the wrist? It's not like someone is less dead when they get killed by a cyclist lol

Hitting a pedestrian and causing injury or death should carry the same consequences as if you did it in a car or any other vehicle. If cyclists want to be respected as road users, they should have the same responsibilities.

Let me spell it out to you as you seem to be hard of understanding. The likelihood of a moron on a bike riding like an idiot hitting someone and killing them is pretty unlikely. A moron driving like an idiot hitting someone and killing them is more than likely. The potential for harm is the reason for the difference. Either way as seen in the link I posted, either will end up in jail

So? It does happen, as seen from the articles.

But there are a few incidents involving cyclists hitting kids on footpaths and in parks and not stopping:

https://www.swlondoner.co.uk/news/0...y-left-traumatised-after-cyclist-hit-and-run/

If you get hit by a cyclist at low speed is going to do way more damage than a car due to the small surface area of a bike and cyclist flying over the handlebars at you.

Also recently a kid was killed by a cyclist who didn't even stop. Also on a footpath, in a park.

Dime bar…… I’ve already said about 2 pedestrians die a year by cyclists. Perhaps you should tell terrorists that mow people down to use bicycles instead as they are so dangerous.

Drivers have mowed down a mother and child and drove off and?

By your logic a guy who murders someone with a pencil should get a light sentence, because its not that common and probably about once a decade lol

I mean, a pencil doesn't have that much "potential harm" right.

You should probably have a think about who might read comments like that before saying something so stupid and insensitive, but maybe that was the point.

Why, will they get offended about something we see all the time?

B-roads are full of Tour De France LARPers. Often not actually looking ahead.

Stop being so stupid, I know it’s very hard for you. Killing someone be it with a bike or a car normally isn’t murder, it’s normally an accident. Knowing that using one vehicle is more likely to kill someone requires greater responsibility hence the difference

Literally just spent two weeks watching family, friends and clubmates having to come to terms with the death of one rider, and another left with life changing injuries after being hit by a speeding car on the wrong side of the road. But, yeah, saying horrible callous things on the internet to score points marks you down as a great person.

Drivers seem to be brilliant at driving up the arse of cyclists on wide straight roads, but obviously it’s the riders with their head down not paying attention.
Yes, an ex works colleagues son was killed that way, head down rode straight into a tractor. I suppose you'll say it was the tractors fault.

Not to mention that the van driver only got 120hrs community service and a 12month ban for killing someone.
