I have no wish to start WW3 here, but I can’t be the only one who is amazed at the amount of nouns in these posts that have miraculously become apostrophised when they become plural, e.g. car’s, door’s, window’s, cat’s, instead of cars, doors, windows, or cats.
I’m no English major, but it looks so obviously wrong when you see it

People are stupid, we all know this.

In before 'dyslexia'
In before 'who cares, you can still read it'
In before 'it doesn't matter'

The car's door is open, close it quick else the cat's collar might get stuck on the window's seals.

If you can understand what someone is trying to convey, or at least get the sentiment, then the grammar and syntax (they normally go hand in hand when people are going all Oxbridge over some non major thing) is secondary.

If you can understand where someone is trying to drive, then the rules of the road are secondary...

I think its just the way its taught in schools these days that everyone is "right" there is no "wrong" that would damage their self esteem.

That being said I never did quite grasp the apostrophe before and after the 's' thing myself should just switch back to the old english -en plural that would solve everything!

Fully agree. The number of people that can't write properly is too damn high. Apostrophes are really easy to understand.

When it comes to nouns, they are possessive.

It's is a conjunction. Its is possessive.

It is secondary, but that doesn't mean that it doesn't matter.

Accurate language is important. Who wants to be writing (or in some cases even speaking) worse than a primary school child?
Totally agreed.

If apostrophe abuse is a crime, can "should have" in place of "should have" be a death sentence?
