E10 Petrol: Anyone concerned?

just had an email from Shell today about this

who will switch to Super Unleaded because of this ?

i think Shell are falsely advertising their V-power

REDUCE
engine friction***

so people are going to think "ill stick V-power in instead then" but the ECU wont go "wow high performance fuel, i can go faster"

Presumably that's what the ** is for - to mention it'll only give more power on cars that can appropriately take advantage of it?

i was thinking about the majority of people who will just see that and not understand it
But you seem to know better and state that shell can’t support the claims, and haven’t looked into the caveat? U.K. ASA will want substation for any claims made.

The ** reads :

**Measured using industry standard and Shell proprietary tests. Shell V-Power Unleaded with 99 Octane compared to lower octane (95 octane) fuels in octane responsive vehicles. Actual effects and benefits may vary according to vehicle type, driving conditions and driving style. Actual benefits may vary. No guarantees provided. See shell.co.uk/vpower for more information.

The same people but the current V power I guess? I am going to assume that with the advent of E10 95 ron they have used this opportunity to rebenchmark V power vs typical 95 ron, hence updated claims.

so whos going to use super unleaded instead of normal unleaded ? even if your car can still use it ?

Me, I only run my car on V Power. The car states a preference for 98RON on the fuel flap, although it will obviously run on 95RON

that's different :p
like my bog standard 1800 Focus, i don't know if I'm going to switch to Super unleaded or use E10 , i cant decide

*** because they can't proove and you can't disproove it :D

Surely reducing engine friction would be down to the oil. Unless E10 is causing engines to run lean or something.

Ah, here he is making stuff up again.

Who said anything about reducing friction?
