Hi all,

can someone advise a good small, home laser colour printer please?

Thanks in advance

Colour or monochrome? Do you want a scanner?

I have one of the cheap Brother wireless laser printers. It is reliable, but the print quality is not great, it always looks a bit faded, so I would spend more next time. It's a Brother HL-L2360D.

Re Brother HL-L3210CW, some reviews saying wireless can be temperamental. Also, that the software has been changed so it can force you to change toner even when it looks fine, and (for L-3550CDW) that all toners will deplete at the same time, making it expensive if you are mainly using black. Before buying, check the cost of any toner replacements, because this will be the biggest expense.

For your budget, you are looking at entry level models from Brother, HP and Kyocera.

The Kyocera ECOSYS P5021cdn for around £185 is within your budget, so might be worth you looking at.

Sorry to gatecrash but I'm also after a home laser colour printer. Fed up paying £100 for 4x inkjet cartridges which seem to only last 300 pages.

Is there anything really good up to £200?

Anything HP tend to be the best from what I have seen and last forever.
I would add to any of the HP comments that they have been doing some pretty dodgy things recently which include a firmware update that stops you printing without genuine ink and I believe brother did the same a while back, but not sure if it has been resolved or not.

Alternatively, it's not a laser printer, but I've found the Epson workforce series to have insanely cheap cartridges for printing and while the cartridges won't last forever, they'll give you a couple hundred prints for around £20 for about 10 cartridges last I checked.

I've had a HP colour laser since university. 15 years now and still works as good as new. I'd personally go with HP if you can. It was the cheapest colour at the time and worth it's weight in gold for the amount of crucial documents and stuff i have printed on it over the 15 years.

I have always preferred Lasers. Just more reliable.

I got talked into an inkjet a while back, for kids projects etc. and once again after a couple of years, as always happens, its started having problems with the jets, if left un used for some time. It also started looking for ink when it wasn't even empty.

So in a fit of rage I few months back I bought an all in one colour laser. I wanted one with document scanning. So I can get rid of all our old paperwork. Because of everyone working from home hard to get stock anywhere. So the only one I could get was this one. https://uk.pcmag.com/inkjet-printers/119135/brother-mfc-l3710cw. Has a few negatives, mainly the lack of duplex. But thats not a huge issues, due to our low use. But at least now when I want to print something, it works first time. Which was never true of any Inkjet I've even owned. But as the review says its just meh if you start comparing specs. I'm happy enough with it.
