OcUK RX6600XT review thread

I dread to think what next-gen GPUS are going to cost. I was fortunate and picked up the 3060Ti FE. Would have got a 6800XT if they were priced closer to MSRP. This card is a joke.

At RRP to RRP the card is crap but apparently for the first wave of the 6600XT it will be available at close to RRP which makes it semi decent and much better value then the 3060 and 3060 Ti models.

Be nice if it was true, but i think the only way to get a proper MSRP card is direct from AMD and since Brexit we haven't had a single AMD drop not unless you try using a VPN to gain access to other country sites.

It's a proper mess!

The problem is even at RRP,this would be £325~£350,as we get a random £10~£20 added on top of the currency conversion IIRC.

An RTX3060TI FE is £369.

Plus its quite clear,the models we can buy are overvolted so don't have the improved performance/watt of the reference model.

Except in the case of consoles, where in exchange for paying for some R&D upfront they might be willing to go as low as 10%. Of course, console margins are top secret but while their financials lump servers with all semi-custom to try to hide them, unless they are giving EPYC away, the console margins must be tiny.

There will be a handful available at MSRP on OcUK, but your talking seconds as its for a small amount available, so consider this a heads up to be fast, I will make stock available tomorrow, launch is 2pm, but I will maybe get them live a little earlier for you guys here who want to try and grab an MSRP card, but you need to be quick.

Now it appears mainstream PC builders need to rely on Intel and Nvidia to bring sanity to the market. We are right screwed now!!

This is misleading, they are focusing on the higher end sure to having to make a choice, wide spread product range with not enough stock in any segment or focus the production and stock in a given area, they chose high end first.

Nvidia only make the GPUs and are the only main OEM at Samsung, AMD is producing lots of products in a competitive allocation

Nope,its not misleading at all and you just agreed with what I said. Like you said they only focusing on the higher end and giving up on the mainstream.For months its been easier to find RTX3060 dGPUs in laptops and prebuilt systems under £1000 - multiple deals on websites like HUKD.

In the end consumers don't care for excuses - you can get Nvidia dGPUs at RRP much easier like so many have and that includes the RTX3060TI,Brexit or no Brexit. You can get them easier in prebuilt systems.

Intel still outsells AMD in CPUs,and actually picked up market share in several quarters too.

Many AMD fans on here mocked Nvidia going with Samsung,but Nvidia as usual can make any misstep into gold.

AMD decided to focus more on consoles this generation,so that is what they care about the most with a lot of wafers going there. Wafers for CPUs/GPUs are now going for the Steam Deck.

So they gave up on more CPU and GPU sales in favour of this. Nvidia took advantage of this and still makes more money than AMD,because they could supply the market better.

Maybe,next year will be when AMD RTG rebounds again? Either way,it is what it is. I would rather have an AMD dGPU due to Linux anyway. Roll on the RX7000 series.

You still had to pay vat. Now it's up to the seller how they want to do that either themselves or sell it to you vat free and get the courier to collect what HMRC is owed.

But Nvidia still shipped FE units to its local partner in the UK. AMD chose a centralised partner,who CBA.

Nope we only get the rebate if we advertise the MSRP on the usual website listing, doing it a secret forum deal won't cut it to get the rebate from the AIB I am afraid.

Consoles rely on the fact you are tied into the market ecosystem. Buy an xbox, you buy xbox games. Microsoft takes a cut of these games to get back some of the R&D costs.

Techpowerup are saying today's reviews are using cards provided by AMD. Third party cards from an AIB or retailer etc will be released tomorrow.

We have several RX 6600 XT cards here, but we're only allowed to publish results for the ASUS RX 6600 XT today. AMD's rules for this launch are that reviews for cards provided by AMD can go live now, reviews for cards provided by the board partners, from stores, or acquired through any other means cannot go live until tomorrow, 3 PM CEST. This a really weird situation, because not everybody has received an ASUS card from AMD, so some sites will have reviews up for other manufacturers, right now. While we have to wait until tomorrow to publish our results for these exact same cards. As you can imagine, the board partners aren't happy with this approach either. We'll have three more RX 6600 XT reviews for you tomorrow.

So much wrong here, consoles are mainstream so they didn't give up there.

They had to make a choice to what products that had to produce first, they chose the high end first, not caring out right means the low end can go away but that's not the case. They can only produce so much and such you have to make a choice.

You need to split the logistics of what a company has to do and what consumers expect.

I don't care for whiny man child's crying over not getting a product that wanted, logic is logic.
