Hey,

I'm looking to get some advice on the components I've chosen for my latest build. My last one was from 2010 so I've been a little out the loop!

I would call out that the aesthetics of the system are important to me and I'm trying my best to have a mostly white rig :)

Here goes:

I was intending on throwing in a 3070 but unfortunately none available at the moment.

Have I made any glaring errors? Or missed anything?

A few questions:

1. What is the budget?
2. What resolution are you aiming for? 1440p/4k?

Also, I have made a basket so it's easier to look at:

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,501.09 (includes shipping: £13.20)

The NVMe drive seems expensive for 1TB. I'm not sure my two NVMe drives cost that much. Your PSU has some decent headroom in, nice.

Thanks mate, appreciate that, much easier!

So my budget is around 2k, I have some flex for the 3070.

Yeah, I think I can get the same NVMe drive for a bit cheaper elsewhere tbh without mentioning. competitors of course.

Yeah, I was keen to have +800w incase I decide on SLI in future (unlikely at GPU prices!)

So both really, I'll play my desk games ie total war etc at 1440 and use my 4k TV for other things like 3rd person etc when I can chill on the couch.

With an O11 the PSU cannot be seen at all so no need to go for a white PSU.

If you want to add more white then did you consider the Asus Prime X570-pro? Can get white DDR4 as well is you look for them but they are rare at 3600mhz.

My mainly white build.

I turned some lights off to try and get better pic , sorry about reflections.

Thats nice :)

Something like this would be a much cheaper option. The money saved would pay for a better gpu. Obviously prices are a bit crazy at the minute.

The case is personal pref, but the Lancool II Mesh is great value. You would need to buy extra fans for the O11.

Cheaper cooler. Not RGB but it is White. It doesn't block the ram slots so the RGB ram would be still on show.

Much cheaper SSD. A Gen 4 isn't really needed if you are just gaming. That might change with Direct storage but that is still in it's infancy.

Swapped the Ram to a 2 x 16GB kit. An extra £60 vs the kit in your spec, but double the amount.

The Corsair RMx is cheaper and you still get White braided cables with it.

A cheaper B550 board. The Tomahawk is solid so not much else to say about it.

Wow, looks nice. Oh I didn't realise that, something to consider then.

Ahhh will this cooler block/cover the RAM?

I didn't consider this really.

Thanks, I'll look at the case as well. If I stick with the 011 do you have a recommendation on fans?

@RedStarRiot are you monitoring Telegram/Discord PartAlert for the FE drops? If you have the time and energy to keep an eye on them you might snag a decent GPU at MSRP and save some budget for the rest of your build.

If I stick with the 011 do you have a recommendation on fans?

In my pic I am using the SL120 Lian Li fans. They are wonderful quality but only the sides light up and they do not cast much light into the case. I would have preferred the AL120 where the blades light up and cast light up into case but they were not released when I ordered.

IMO get the Lian Li AL120 or other fans where the blades light up.

Edit- They are insanely expensive at the moment so only get them if you have money in your budget for them.

The Alpenfohn cooler has an offset design, so it shouldn't block the Ram slots.

If you decide to go with the O11 and Lian-Li Galahad cooler then I would go with Lian-Li ARGB fans as well so it matches. You don't really want to be mixing different ecosystems as it makes things a bit more difficult when trying to sync.

No announced in recent years case has PSU visible, courtesy of cases having been raped by fashion.
So PSU's colour doesn't matter.
Unless you take out Dremel to fix bad design fad of cramming PSU into cramped compartment, which is functionally 20 years late from actual need.

Also that very undynamic different for the sake of different fad design has poor utilization of its external size limiting versatility.

And that opposite of white Asus board has failure timer chipset cooler straight from anus of marketroids.
If wanting X570 board, MSI X570 Tomahawk is far superior design for lot less and has some lighter gray shades in it:
MSI MAG X570 Tomahawk WiFi (AMD AM4) DDR4 X570 ATX Motherboard= £179.99

Also absolutely zero sense to pay tripled GB prices in SSD unless you have bottomless budget.
1TB PCIe v3 NVMe can be had for £75.
Crucial P5 1TB M.2 2280 PCI-e 3.0 x4 NVMe Solid State Drive= £74.99

I've purchased 2 of these triple packs. I've watched some videos where they appear to have 3 at the bottom and top or the case.

The airflow piece confuses me a bit, would the bottom be intake with it exiting at the top?

I get the vibe you seem frustrated with me wanting it to look pleasing to the eye?

It's all personal preference mate and the market will adjust to what sells and what's popular. If its any consolation my last case was an ugly HAF 932 :p

I know the motherboard I have chosen isn't white, it would have been my first option however couldn't source one on OCUK or elsewhere. I'm open to switching the motherboard however I read some reviews and it has some nice sounding features, I'm not an expert though hence coming on here for advice :)
