Moving from a 3080 to 6900XT worth it

I’m considering moving from my 3080 to a 6900XT, has anyone done the same, is it worth it. I know I can get about £1K for my 3080 due to it being a full hashrate card, anyone feel it’s worth it?

For anything apart from esports (if you need to push higher FPS) I'd say stick with the 3080. RT and DLSS are more valuable than the extra VRAM and raster fps imo. There is also no comparison at the moment when it comes to production work.

Dropping into this thread as I could tell it would be good from the title. Just grabbing the popcorn!

Isn't the 6900xt pretty much on par with the 3080 until you turn ray tracing on and dlss and then the 3080 absolutely destroys it if you use either.

It's like saying shall I sell my car to buy the same car but without half the toys inside it.

Only an AMD fanboy would do this.

Some games it will be apparent. Like I play Valhalla and AMD comfortably beat nvidia cards in that title. It is only 'worth' it in your case if your getting offered a good wedge for the card which means the 6900XT nets you some cash in the pocket afterwards.

The hassle of selling the old card would be enough to put me off but could be worth it depending on what you play and what you want to get from such an exchange.

But rtx and dlss are far bigger and better features than a handful of and optimised games.

It would have to be a substantial amount in pocket for it to be worth it. Ideally you would just get a 3090 tbh.

Yeah the 3080 is like a car that does 100mph and has heating and aircon while the 6900XT does 115mph but only has heating which is great in the summer on the motorway with the window wound down but once you hit that RTA tailback your going to crawl along and sweat.

The 3080 beats it in some games. Both are equal in speed until you introduce rtx or dlss and then the 3080 does 150mph.

Whether I own a 6900xt is irrelevant. The answer would be the same if the op was asking about 3080 > 3090.

It's on par with the 3090, not the 3080.
