So ive got a preorder with over clockers for a strix 3080. Obviously i will not be getting it anytime soon, so ive been thinking of upgrading to a 3080ti.

I would be wanting to get a Asus TUF 3080Ti. Do you think the 650 pound difference is worth the money to upgrade my card or should i continue to wait? Just wanting some advice.

no but if you have the money and you dont want to wait for nvidias next offering than go for it. At this moment in time its just about actually getting a card

At this moment in time the best advice is to get up to speed with the telegram notifications, and bag yourself one of the 3080 or 3080Ti FE cards. Either one is going to be way better value than an AIB card. More obtainable, and the difference in performance between the FE and an AIB is minor.

The FE's are arguably better from what I have heard from a mate who has both.

They are certainly a big step up from the 30 series reference pcb, but not as good as the top tier AIB cards.... But you pay for those, and the gains aren't that great.

If you have the budget and are financially stable or very well off, there's no such thing as "is it worth the money or not." Just buy it and stop stressing over money.

If you're on a budget and need to watch your expenses carefully, absolutely NOT. Save your money for DDR5 and Alder Lake, instead.

£650 to go from 3080 to 3080Ti - awful value.

£650 to go from imaginary 3080 to real 3080Ti - that's up to you.

I can't tell who's getting ripped off but as I type this the price difference at my local store between a 3080 Strix and 3080ti Strix is just $100 (and that's Australia dollars not US)

But I think the tiny price difference is because most 3080ti are LHR cards with mining nerfed

Yup greatly depends on the price and availability.
Many 3080 AIB models are still over double the MSRP and not really that far off the 3080 Ti price.

My mate just purchased a 3080 Ti STRIX for £1250 (ex-VAT) due to this, as there was literally only £100 in it.

Now if AIB 3080's were say £700 to £800... then it would be a different story.

Wait unless you are desperate and are prepared to pay for a solution. The price difference/value is atrocious atm….

I dont know what’s going on with 3080’s right now its as if Nvidia have stopped making them?

Perhaps this might help you think about not spending that amount of money on such a change....

I noticed a retailer dropped some Gigabyte 3080 Vision OC V2 for £999.99 today (20 Aug), things are moving.

I would try and grab an FE model, you probably would have had one in hand by now.

As someone who owned a 3080 FE and now a 3080 TI FE (was a free swap/upgrade for me), there isn't really a noticeable difference between the 2. I don't think the 3080 ti is worth more than £100 over a 3080 and only because it has 20% more VRAM.
