I have heard a few people, who are more knowledgable than me when it comes to computer components, saying that the EVGA 3090 cards are poor quality.
Is there any truth in this?

The fact amazon's new game was killing evga cards specifically then I would say there is truth to this. As long as you have warranty though it doesn't really matter. So long as you sell before warranty runs out.

I would choose based on price and warranty. It's not as if 3090 are hard to get. They are too expensive for most folk.

The 3090 is an enthusiast grade GPU so naturally there can be a lot of tweeking and adjusts etc to get it running just how people like it. Thermal pad replacement, undervolting etc. That's what enthusiasts love do. So it's perfect for them.

The Amazon MMO game 'New World' had an issues where the framerate on the title screen went too high on a few models of the EVGA 3090 but that issue has been fixed in the latest update.

If you're not an enthusiast then perhaps a 3070 or below is more suitable because they don't need and tweeking.

I'm sorry but I know plenty of gamers that own 3080 and have zero interest in taking them apart.

That's like saying only a mechanic should buy a high end car.

IgorsLab proved the so called fix did nothing, it's a hardware issue like their load balancing on the power rails. Avoid the EVGA FTW3 if you don't want to spend silly money RMA-ing it all the time and then they want double the price of it as a desposit if you want an advanced rma. My advice avoid it like the plague.

You just have to read the evga forums , some are now on 5-6 rmas for these cards at their cost to post and insure some are having to pay $200 in postage everytime.

They should just sell the replacement and buy another if that's the case

Thank you both for the replies.
If I do take the plunge, I would look at under-volting it.

Why buy an EVGA and worry about downclocking it so it doesn't brick when you could set up an alert for a 3090FE or 3080tFEi, unless you already have an FE card and don't have anyone else to buy one for you?
