Hi all. Cutting the long story short:
Family went on holiday for almost 1 month. Car stayed in the airport. On the return car didn’t start. Headlights switch out of the AUTO mark. Possible the lights have stayed on the whole time. Second time that happens to me. First with another car in another parking company. Asked them if this was a procedure so that no one can steal the car.
They did jump start. Drove 2h30. I would have thought it was enough. I think it is. After arriving home, the next day tried to start. It started. The another 2 days after didn’t start anymore. Some lights were on and all that. Since then very busy at work etc. Didn’t jump start again because thought it would not solve the problem. Didn’t call roadside because they would conclude battery is flat in principle (I know it could be the alternator as well but doubt, maybe). So thought would call Ford. Thought next week. Called, slot for a month or so. Car was bought from them 3 months ago. Anyways, now I got my hands in a pulsed charger. Went to the car to jump start, I believe that did correctly. First red on car being used to do the jump start, the other end to the Ford. Black on the car being used to jump start and the other end in the Ford. The Ford didn’t start :o
Can anyone help and give me an insight of what could be happening? Can I use the pulse charger to try to recover the battery of that is the case, being completely flat and dead? Is the battery dead? Shouldn’t the car have started connected to another battery? Maybe I did it wrong. It is a start stop type thingy.
Any tips?
Thanks very much in advance.

If it's no good after a 2 and a half hour drive it's most likely to be dead.

Auto lights wont have drained the battery. Battery was likely on poor health but kept going with regular use, as soon as it was left for a few weeks it discharged and that's the end of it.

Thanks for your input. Small correction please. The the switch was in auto lights position. When I arrived there it was in another position, I believe medium or max output. How the *** someone leaves the lights on? Do you know if using the pulse charger can bring it to life?

Your battery is dead, dead. Buy a new battery.

thansk for your input. That’s probably the best thing to do. I would like to ask you and anyone reading this if getting an Halfords brand (£130 ish to have them come to my place test the battery and swap for another one) is all right? Or I should go for an high one? Bosh for example. Maybe for now hold to the halford and in 3y to 5y change to a Bosh one?
Another question please. The one in the car if 60Ah. I guess it is also EFB. So the Alford one if a 65Ah and also got the option with 75Ah. Any advantage of swapping for a 75Ah over the 65Ah which they have also available provided it is ok to swap for one with higher amperage. Thanks in advance.

I would guess that this happened by mistake when the driver exited the car. All it takes is to brush against the light dial and it will turn although you will get an alarm to tell you that your lights are still on but if the driver is not paying attention it could be ignored.
It could have been yourself that accidentally brushed it into that position on exiting the car of course.

not be. Dropped at night have taken a closer to the distance between the car and the adjacent ones. The lights were off.

I own a ford focus and it very easy to knock the light switch on this car with your leg when getting out the car
(I have done this myself a few times but i been lucky so far as i always heard the alarm or noticed it)
