Okay so prices were dropping and now seem to of settled at the current levels still op a tad but here we are.

Of course the 3070 replaces the 1070 directly, however what else would be worth while?

I'm thinking ahead for battlefield 2042.

If I'm right the options that would give a somewhat decent boost is 6700XT and 3060Ti / 3070Ti or Non Ti

The 3060Ti being the cheaper option, I'd like to give ray tracing ago on PC as its bloody lovely on spider man on ps5.

I have a 600W XFX PSU which should be fine for most of think.

any one of those would be good. if raytracing is your thing stay with nvidia
My only concern is the 8gb ram on the nvidea cards, I mean I've never maxed 8gb on my 1070 I'm just thinking longer term that the 6700xt ram will come in handy.

Plus if I'm right isn't Amd ray Tracing software based so may improve?

AMD's ray tracing has some hardware within the GPU chip dedicated to the task like nVidia has ... its that nVidia's implementations at the moment have more hardware that enables things like DLSS which in turn combines together for better framerates at high resolutions at a quality which is arguably similar to native resolution alone.

Going to keep my 1070 for the long haul!! Just can't stomach the price of a new card!!

If you have money to burn, upgrade, but I don't see the value

I'd try and get a 3080FE for £649 before dropping £700+ on a 6700XT Which is around 30% slower even at 1080p.

What CPU do you have?

At 1080p with such a high frame rate monitor you'll need a decent CPU to put out the high frame rate will probably be the limiting factor of your setup.

The graphics card will let you up the settings sure, are you trying to achieve 240fps or just past 100? Or what what is your goal?

I'm just saying, you can spend top dollar on a new GPU and other than upping some settings you might not notice a massive jump in FPS over your 1070.

Ryzen 3600, aim is 120-140.

Pretty good CPU so yes I agree you'll get a nice boost, personally I'd get a 6700xt over an Nvidia equivalent for the higher VRAM and better pairing with your CPU, you won't get ray tracing but that is marketing rubbish imo, I have a 3070 and I dont use any of those features.

I hear you ask, why you have a 3070 then telling people to buy a 6700xt? Only reason I got a 3070 is I got mine on a OCUK forum members deal, so it was a no brainer decision at the price, buying retail I'd go AMD.

The 3080FE is the card to get right now and if you install telegram it's not too difficult. Paying vastly over the odds for an inferior card like the 6700XT
seems daft to me when a better cheaper card is readily available. Any cards other than the FE cards direct from Nvidia are insanely overpriced and 'settling' for those
exploitative prices is a good way to reward greed and profiteering and a good way to pay way more for less.
