Is a 10 second car considered fast by 2021 standards?

Until most cars get close to 10 seconds, then 10 seconds is quick.

The increasing reliance on auto boxes or electric also make going quick easier and consistent. However, power is nothing if you can't drive or the car can't handle.
And the only way to prove that is by turning the wheel

Traction off the line in the AMG is a disaster in anything other than bone dry, i took it out 2 days ago in the wet and it was all over the place, one of those things but it doesn't really bother me.

Thought AWD held things back at high speed. It's wasted power once you get going and extra weight. All the really quick drag cars are RWD.

Then there are the next generation, who have a bit of cash and can afford to fund something proper quick. It's why we have Skoda TDi sorts who believed their car a 911 slayer. I used to think the Astra Max Van was when I got FULL access to it's 1.3L's after my Mini. So again, same as it ever was. It is this generation that seems so transfixed with numbers, our OP being a classic example if he is not some troll.

I have almost given up talking to these sorts about the M5, they simply have absolutely no idea and there's nothing for them to relate to. All part of the learning curve - I'd not owned a car as ridiculous as this (particularly above 100 units) prior and I doubt I'd have "got it" from words either as there's no point of reference.

I thought all top-fuel dragsters were auto.
i don't mean the transmissions, i mean Electric power over petrol power because it's only a matter of time, that video is ``big daddy``Don Garlits and he was the king of Drag racing, so if he's switched to electric then time's starting to run out.

a dragster is an ``air shifted`` semi auto with a red shift button on the steering wheel.

but i'm old fashioned and the one thing i hate about an electric car is it makes no V8 noise, or any bloody noise, all you hear is the rubber, at least my RC tanks make a noise (with a sound unit i mean)

Power corrupts, I think everyone feels like they need more power more of the time as that would be better.

True, and even when you've got silly power you get used to it so quickly that there's the heavy temptation for that little bit more irrespective of whether it'll actually make any real world difference. Hence why it's extremely rare for new car power levels to remain the same as a previous models for cars which are supposed to be "fast" as most folks believe that even a 10hp rise = more power = more better.

Drag racing is the most pointless thing ever.

I mean even top fuel dragsters has very little to do with the driver behind the wheel.

I guess the entertainment from drag racing is watching a Corsa B with a gazillion horsepower under the hood smashing some Lambo.

Then when you pop the hood on the Corsa and you see that stand alone fuel management system and you think to yourself "not a bad way way to spend 10 grand" and "I'm gonna pink slip Johnny Tran next".

My comment was originally in line with the rest of the thread, the discussion being about road cars.

Launch control + auto + AWD... the car is doing most of the work. Why not go another step forward and let the car do the rest of the driving as well :p
