My partners Henry hoover motor died, I ordered a replacement motor from the bay based on the model no of the old motor. the new one fits and works, apart from one problem, i cant get the motor plastic housing back on with this rubber seal sitting on top of the motor. Is this required? is it anything more than vibration dampening.

I repaired mine last week, it's just for taking out the vibration/padding and not required for operation. You'll notice henry shakes a bit more without it however.

my usual experience, partly from dismantling hoover fan assembly, is that if the parts will not go back into the carcass, there is some error in the re-assembly

Ok thanks for that. the supplier confirmed i have the correct motor for my serial number, it must just have a slightly different top to the motor that allows the seal to sit flush. thew new motor is pretty much touching the plastic housing anyway.

I'd agree with this. Also I think that Henry parts haven't changed in the entire lifetime of the design. So unless your replacement doesn't quite match spec, there's a good chance you've inserted the motor slightly out of place.

I will doublecheck, however, with the way the motor sits, i don't thinks its actual possible to insert it out of place. Also note its not a genuine motor, and doesnt look 100% identical to the original, but as mentioned earlier the supplier confirmed its the correct part

oh and the motors have changed a lot... you need to get exactly the right one. else it dont fit at all
