Thanks, slightly different to game pass then. I guess I’ll just buy the games I want to play. It’ll mainly be for the exclusives anyway and I guess any that use the new game pad features.

Ratchet and clank looks good. I think I’ll play that after god of war.
As above PS Now is the Sony equivalent to GP. £8.99 a month I think. There's a lot of good stuff on there (and, let's be honest, much like GP, a lot of crap!) and much of it is downloadable. It started as a streaming service but as you know these things are hit and miss so they added the option to download. Most PS4 games you can download but older titles can only stream. I like it personally as like GP you can try things you'd never usually play and I've enjoyed quite a few of what's on there. Shame no first party day 1 titles like GP but hey ho.

First game you should try is the pre-installed Astro Bot game as it will give you a fantastic demonstration of what's so cool about the controller. Helps that it's a fun 3D Mariolike game as well. :)

So can I now pop any gen4 SSD into the PS5? Does it have to have a heat sink, like Corsair MP600?

Yes to both, it requires a heatsink and I'm not sure why people are still saying otherwise. Make sure whatever SSD you buy meets the performance requirements as you could run into issues later down the line otherwise.

Brilliant, thanks :)

I guess I just need to way up the cost vs the games I want to play. I doubt I’ll buy too many games - mainly exclusives, recent releases and good dual sense games. The rest I’ll get from game pass. It’s a tricky one to weigh up.

My first 3 to play currently are god of war, myles morales and ratchet and clank. Last of us/uncharted look good too. Forbidden west is the next big game that I want to play.

Complain and ask for one to be sent !

Yeah, ive just rang them and they confirmed it should have come with one but cant sort it now, so will be tomorrow now. We will see. it looks to be quite a good one and its compatible so ill wait. Looks like i also did well with the price, as the same drive now is 430quid, i paid 349.

Just got confirmation my console is due tomorrow. It's coming with a copy of Ghost of Tsushima DC and I've ordered Rift Apart and Spiderman. Glad to be ditching my Pro.

Great way to kick off a Friday. :D

Digital foundry and Gamers Nexus have said the old vs new revision PS5 are pretty much on par with each other with no real significant temperature or noise variances between them. Vids on YouTube if anyone is interested.

It’s almost as if a big team of engineers know better than one or two random you tubers, who would have thought.

I fitted mine without a heat sink, 20 mins later I had to stick one on it as it got a temp warning

Jumping into the middle of that conversation so might have the wrong end of the stick - Gamers Nexus generally do a proper tear-down and have people on the team who know what they are doing - but they don't always get it right. But most of the time they do know what they are talking about.

It’s interesting what they do but probably a bit too extreme. It’s interesting to watch though to see the incremental changes that occur in the revisions of the consoles.

One thing I have noticed is my new revision PS5 blows out more air than my launch model did. Having less resistance to the flow is more than likely the cause or the fan is running faster but it’s silent so no problem.
