Hey, thinking of building my own rig as mine is getting on now. Mainly for gaming at 1080p at the moment.

Kolink Observatory Lite ARGB Midi Tower Gaming Case - Black

Corsair CV550 80 Plus Bronze Certified PSU

AMD Ryzen 5 3600 Six Core

MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX Motherboard

Cooler Master Hyper 212 LED

Have my own RX 570 for the moment.

+ Any decent RAM/SSD

Does this look okay and would the mobo be okay if I was looking to upgrade CPU in the future?

Despite of brand sticker that's really low end PSU with short three year warranty.
Instead of way brand and RGB overpricing in cooler that should be put to better PSU.
(really some Jonsbo would be more fit for such budget parts)
Good PSU is the second longest usage life potential part after the case.

B450 limits CPU's lanes to PCIe v3 (chipset is PCIe v2) so not going to be greatest platform for long time into future for better parts.

The build will work just fine but if you want to potentially upgrade to a better cpu in the future then you may need to upgrade the bios but it should work. I am not sure if there are current bios for that board that support Ryzen 5000 cpus but they should be available in the future when you may need them. It is unlikely they will get a bios update for the next gen Ryzen chips so you will be limited to a max 5950x 16 core 32 thread cpu.

If you are seriously thinking about future upgrades then you should be looking at an X570 mobo , MSI X570 Tomahawk for around £170 is good choice, that would be ok for your choice of R5 3600 as well.

If you are building it yourself then I suggest you get a better PSU. The Corsair one will work for the build you suggest but it is best to have peace of mind with an excelent psu that can be reused in future builds or just do its job well in the system you build for many many years.

Those would be my suggestions for a PSU.

RAM + SSD. The Prices on these 2 components go up and down like yoyos so is difficult to recommend and you have to check prices when you purchase.

Currently they seem to offer the best price to performance but by tomorrow that could change.

People should stop recommending the SN550 as WD has been caught changing the components for lesser ones and the drives are much slower than review samples, see this report. Sadly WD are not the only ones that have been caught out and we have a ongoing thread about this disgraceful practice here.

I totally agree companies should not do bait and switch tactics with review vs retail parts.

I have to thank you pasty because your criticism made me instal crystalmark to test my drives. It appears that Asus idea of auto for a bios setting is .... well no one know but it was not gen 4 and my SN850 was only getting 4k reads and the RND4k read/write were terrible. Quick trip to bios to set everything correctly and I am getting close to the speeds I should.

I ordered a WD SN550 about a month ago and it is 2450/2000 so exactly what you expect from this drive. I do not know if this is an old batch of the original drives but I am happy with it.

RND4K read writes seem to be slow so may have to do more testing and see whats up.

Thanks for input so far, I have ordered the ryzen 3600 and MSI MPG B550 GAMING PLUS AMD Motherboard as I found a good price.

Any recommendations on the case? Would like some RGB fans included preferably.

Also my RX570 isnt gonna cut it with 3600, so if I choose to upgrade what is the best budget that will get the most out of it?

Bitfenix Nova case comes with 4 argb fans.

Sorry, not sure on your budget, just went with corsair case myself, quality is good, the lancool 2 is also popular. Check prices as some are on offer, put the 4000 airflow in there as with offer you can get your own fans and choose what you want.

If you are trying to get a gpu at a sensible price then you should install Telegram and join fepartalert and try to get an Nvidia 3060/3060ti/3070 FE when they come into stock. Without an alert to tell you when they are in stock you have no chance of getting one.
The only other sensibly priced option is 6600xt which can be purchased for 400 pounds at times. Has good 1080p performance but is not good at higher resolutions.

Not sure of how good supply is, but if you go 6600XT route(similar performance to last years 5700XT), I'd just get one. Stock is lower than a couple weeks ago, and trouble is you never know when stock will replenish. OCuk still has some choice though. As Haz123 says, best option for price is a FE drop though. you only have a couple mins to get one when it happens though.

Think hardware unboxed did a test and they're all pretty much similar in performance, whether factory overclocked or not. Think there was one that had poor thermals which was biostar, so avoid that

Found it, reviews below showing performance etc

Cheers guys, in a bit of a catch 22 now, my fault I knew about gpu shortage but got carried away. I don't wanna be stuck with my 570 for a year but I dont wanna pay stupid price for gpu either.

Like I said above install the Telgram app and set up an alert for Nvidia Founders Edition stock. They come in every week or 2 and the 3060 3060ti 3070 3080 all sell out in a few mins. Normally drops in an EU country the day before UK gets stock so you sort of know when they will come available. For example, if Spain get stock on tues then wednesday morning be ready for UK to get stock. If you want 3080ti or 3090 you have couple of hours but they are a lot of money and not good price/performance so not as many people interested.

You can get an FE card but it does take planning, good timing and a bit of luck.

I've been running a 5800X in a B450 tomahawk max since last December so the bios are fine.
