3080 Undervolting

Just ran Heaven 4 Benchmark. For comparison my stock score was 5327 and the temps came in at 68 degC

I undervolted to 1900 at 887mV on Afterburner and kept it running. Restarted PC and ran Heaven Benchmark again. I got a score of 5019 this time round but despite Afterburner showing 1900-1905MHz, Heaven was showing 2100MHz in top right corner. Temperature undervolted was 75 degC. Still plenty of coil whine.
I am on the latest driver too so maybe that's different. Or maybe I'm just doing something wrong. Will try Neon Noir benchmark now.

Did you apply the undervolt by pressing the tick? It shouldn't be 2100 at the top.

Have you got a screenshot of your voltage curve?

Heaven reports incorrect clock speed it's a known bug never use it, get clockspeed from riva tuner. Heaven essentially reports clock speed as 200mhz higher than it actually is

If heaven crashes then games like Cyberpunk, Quake II RTX and Warzone will certainly crash or full on system shutdown

That makes sense. I know so little about undervolting and overclocking. If I was confident undervolting could be as stable as stock then I would persist but I tried the "sweet spot" and Heaven really didn't like it. Was going to try Neon Noir afterward but no point now.

I know quite a bit and now a days, overclocking GPUs is not a beneficial as it used to be, same with the CPU. Ryzen does benefit from RAM overclock, which is the only thing I have (3600Mhz CL16 RAM running 3800Mhz CL14) CPU i've left defaul PBO to it and 3080 I find its best to let it do it's own thing.
10 - 20 years ago there were good gains to be had from overclocking both CPU and GPU but now its seems they're designed to boost (or run cool) when needed.

As @newuser said, Nvidia are where they are today because of implementing reliable auto features into GPUs without having to rely on us mere peasants changing their boost/idle config. I guess in time features like auto CAS / frequency scaling will be implemented into RAM too

I understand the appeal of changing the stock settings for free performance / better thermals / defecations and giggles but as Guest 2 said the big gains that used to be available just aren't there anymore. Especially when you consider the time invested and the fact that you're competing against something that has it's own ideas about temps, clocks and workloads. I bought a celeron 300A from here and it ran happily at 450, my current CPU has an OC of about 5%

My 5950x is 25% faster overclocked and rtx3090 15% faster overclocked

.925v at 2040Mhz seems to be solid for me, nice blend of UV and performance (Ventus 3070Ti). System is pretty much silent during gaming so I'm more than happy :)
Hey mate,
Long time. I might create another profile and give it a go. Pretty impressed coming from a 1080ti, didn’t expect the increase in performance. Lovely cards

Playing around with some undervolting on my 3080 Ti FE.
I've set it to 1935 @887mV.

Seems to peak at 81°C in Timespy.
GTA V peaks at 70°C with a peak clock of 1960.
Seems a bit quieter overall as well.

Very new to this, don't know if any good.

I undervolted for the first time today after reading some threads on here and watch a recommended video on youtube.

I have a Gigabyte Eagle OC 8GB 3070 which is now running at 1965 Mhz @ 800mV and heaven runs at 5 degrees cooler than before. I'll be running through some decent games over the coming weekend to see where I end up at.

So running 1905 @ 900mv. Quake 2 RTX certainly hammers it. Hits the power limit and downclocks. Need to play some other games...

currently playing minecraft RTX with my lad.

Total wattage should go down nicely too, Check your before and after with either the Nvidia OSD or Hwinfo.

it really does clock was in 1700mhz - high 1600mhz range RTX doesnt add anything to the game still looks crap lol need to find something else
