Are Sim only deals from third party sites legitimate?

Hi everyone, I'm looking at getting an unlimited sim-only Vodafone card to use in a 5G router and saw a deal at affordable mobiles that is cheaper than the Vodafone site and was wondering how they are able to offer this? (seems to be they offer cashback, I've never used cashback before so not sure how it works). I'm not sure if we are allowed to post links so I haven't included one.

Are these offers real or should I just go with ordering from the Vodafone site?

I've had a few sim only deals from these sorts of sites, every one been legit and the cashback is trivially easy. Just find out when your bill is, when they want the bills sending to them and then just set a reminder in your calendar. The actual submission takes about 2 minutes for each one.

I am fairly sure that I have used affordable mobiles too.

Thanks. Is that how they all work? The one I was looking at for Vodafone says the cashback is paid 99 days after connection and that no claim is necessary.. How can they afford to just give people money back since I assume Vodafone are not paying them?

The auto cashback ones are easier but often you receive less money than the manual ones (if they are available). I have no idea how it works, all I know is that it does work and every cheque cleared just fine.

Vodafone will be paying them. All these sorts of companies offer incentives to resellers to hit targets, and cash payments are part of that. The cashback providers will just be offsetting their lower margins from discounting the Vodafone service with the payments they receive, and then passing a bit of it along to you.

The resellers get a commission per contract or SIM deal sold from the network.

Essentially they offer a large chunk of the commission back to the customer as 'cashback' to incentivise new business. They rely on making their money from the mass volume of deals sold.

This is how cashback sites like Top Cashback and Quidco operate as well.
