Hey guys,

I’m looking at downgrading a bit from my 3080ti. It’s just overkill for my needs really..but..would a 3060ti / 3070 still perform ok at 1440p medium settings?

Yes.

Plenty of reviews of the 3060ti/3070 that show they will be just great at high settings at 1440p. The 3080/3080ti does not stretch its lead until you get to 4k gaming where the 320bit memory bus gives it a large advantage.

Some people bought a 3060 and 6600XT for 1440p. So definitely.

I wouldn't be surprised if a high percentage of people overspend because they genuinely don't realise the lower tiers still do a great job.

I'm using a 3070FE at mostly 1440p, some 4K.

For older titles it excels at both resolutions but some of the very latest titles you will have to slightly sacrifice settings at 4K to keep things smooth. At 1440p it sails through with most stuff if not all settings maxed. But I do feel that the future is relatively short for the card even at 1440p with settings turned up so depends how long you want to keep it.

Well I'm getting more FPS at 1440p than I was with my 3060 and 2070 super.

So am I doing something wrong?

The 3080ti is a really good card for 1440p. Especially if it's a high refresh rate monitor.

In fact I just upgraded from a 3080 to a 3080ti at 1440p.

Are you really saying I should be using a 3060ti or 3070?

You have already bought the 3080ti. Pointless selling it to downgrade now especially given the cost of a 3060ti and 3070ti.

Unless you need the money to pay essential bills keep the card the saving won't be worth the downgrade.

Also I can't max out battlefield 5 with my 3080ti. BF2042 is launching soon and there is no way I would be downgrading.

Games are only going to get more demanding now thanks to the consoles being 4K
