thinking of buliding a gaming pc .. amd ryzen 5600x ..what would be the best mother board and fastest ram (16 g) or maybe more ..budget is about £450

Depends what you want from the board? No need to over pay on RAM and a board if you're running a 1060 for the next year.

What have you got atm? Selling the 1060 and using the £450 on top of the resale amount could net you a better gaming system.

my pc is a bit old now ..i got the AMD FX(tm)-8350 Eight-Core Processor 4.01 GHz blah blah ..i'm only interested in buying new ..just need help picking best parts

Personally I'd try get the GPU first then do the upgrade as dropping cash on a 5600X won't improve gaming on 1060 much and by the time you get a new GPU then better CPUs will be available or CPUs like the 5600X will be much cheaper.

i can get the 5600x for £230 brand new ..so yes £450 ish for motherboard ram and cpu ..any recommandation for gpu ?

You could happily go with a 10400 CPU, 16gigs of RAM and a budget B560 board for less than £300 which will be endlessly faster than your FX. GPUs are awfully expensive right now, CPUs aren't great, but there's reasonable prices around like the 10400 atm is at some places. GPUs are just insanity right now. Given you are on an FX CPU still i'd probably go with upgrading that as opposed to selling the 1060 and using the £450 to add to that and getting a nice GPU, as i did suggest previously. But really depends if you're looking to upgrade the GPU sooner rather than later, as like someone else mentioned you don't want to be spending £450 on a good current gen CPU that just gets bottlenecked by the 1060 for it's whole life. The reality is you need at least £450 for a GPU alone currently, and even at that price it still won't give you the lifespan your 1060 has given you. We are all hoping for better days come next year!

than you for your time and messages friends ..must appreciated ! 10400 cpu etc ..any other suggestions are most welcome

To see Alderlake brings and Can push amd prices down to compete.
I’d agree that previously AMD had to compete with Intel by pricing below them, I don’t see that now though. I wouldn’t expect AMD to reduce prices or if they do not by a lot. They have their own ‘3D’ chiplet design Ryzen refresh coming soon too.
