Great replaying this maxed with RT at 120 fps. Radeon needs some optimization by the looks of it.

Given RT is used far more than what we see in amd sponsored RT titles and nvidia have always performed better in crysis games anyway, can't say it's that surprising tbf.
 
dlss even when given 720p at 1080p looks horribly bad. its not usable at all, its just a gimmick

im pretty sure at 540p and beyond it looks like a xbox 360 game lmao

i'd only use dlss at 1440p with dlss quality. and that's barely passable. it still wont look pleasant. dlss truly shines at 4k..

btw vram and ram consumption rates are alarming. like heck, this game used to run on 2 gb ram and 1 gb of vram.

i would expect a more modest increase in the lines of 4.5-6 gb vram and 3.5-4 gb ram yet game is full on what? 8-13 gb vram, 8-14 gb ram

the ends don't justify the means in this case.

The game went heavy on RT like how FC6 went on VRAM. Just the usual NVIDIA/AMD shenanigans at play here

TBF, these 2 games haven't exactly gone overboard with ray tracing, certainly not to the same extent as cyberpunk, control, metro etc. (well crysis 2 has a lot more ray tracing used than crysis 3 does, iirc, 3 only has reflections and shadows), it's about what I would expect for a game with what I consider "normal" levels of ray tracing for todays hardware.

The problem with far cry 6 ray tracing is that it was incredibly dialled back in every way possible especially the resolution which is why it looks pretty awful.

Find it quite funny though that some of the textures look better in these games than what we see in FC 6 even :p

Crysis 2 benefits more from the new additions I'd say due to the metallic look of the game. A lot of indoors sections and the metal robot armours. Crysis 3 was more outdoors with loads of foliage.
 
AMD sucks with RT reflections and that's pretty much the gist of it.

most games that use RT reflections use 100% RT reflection scale - meaning if your game resolution is 1440p the RT reflection is rendered at 1440p. But AMD sponsored games, like Far Cry 6 all use a 25% scaler, meaning if your game resolution is 1440p, then the RT reflection is rendered at 720p.

Also the AMD sponsored titles limit the amount of surfaces which emit rays so as to not cripple the cards. Water bodies in FC6 don’t receive RT reflections at all. RT Shadows are not used on vegetation in a jungle environment.
