Nvidia CMP 170HX cryptomining flagship listed at US$4,500 - Graphics - News - HEXUS.net

Key specs and features of the Nvidia CMP 170HX can be seen in some of the screenshots from Dubai's ViperaTech above and below. You will observe that the CMP 170HX is quite a compact, thoughtful solution for miners with its dual-slow blower style cooler, 250W operation with need of just a single 8-pin power connector and a quoted hash rate of 160MH/s+.

Any miners on here want to buy a few?

Not at that price - 2x 3080's would get you more than 180mh at 400w, but cost you less than £2k

Like this card does have advantages, but they are totally wiped out by the price as they will take you twice as long to recover the outlay

Even if you can't get hold of 3080's, 3090's or even 3080ti's with dual mining represent a better return

Plus a lot of miners like the fact that a normal card can be sold on for a decent price once they are done with it. When these mining focused cards are superseded they'll end up in the bin or not worth anywhere near as much in resale value.

The issue is at $4500 it'd take it ~400 days to pay for itself, while a $2000 3090 would do it in ~280, +- based on market changes ofc. Problem with that is Eth mining doesn't have that long left & at the end of it you're more likely to sell the 3090 for a decent price than the 170hx. Granted there's still other coins to mine but all that is much more risky as basically all of Eth's hashing power is going to have to move anyway, so expect further reductions... never mind what the state of the market might be then. So it's easy to see why few are rushing to buy one.

You won't get LHR 3080 for less than 1k each let alone non-LHR
