Hexus and Bit-tech shutting down

I use Bit-Tech daily and have been since the late 90's for my quick snippet of hardware/modding news. Quite saddened by that really and I had no idea it was coming. I used Hexus back in the late 90's but eventually moved away to other sites. Either way it is a sad loss.
 
sounds to me like it was dying (so many people DID move away) and hence he decided to call quits..?
 
Yeah, makes no sense not to sell it unless money is no longer needed where he's going next...

Maybe he just didnt want to sell as he didnt want to see it when it was no longer HIS baby. "If I can't have it then no-one else can" mentality? IDK...

All a bit sad but as I said earlier, I'd stopped regular visits (and seems others had too)
 
I don’t get why he didn’t just transfer the name to the new couple and let the legacy live on. Sell the name and brand if you’re worried about money.

Will be the end of an era for sure.

I’m not emotionally invested in those websites and I’m probably dead inside but that goodbye message made me cringe.

apparently he had seen other sites do this and didn't like the way they ended up - paid for articles and such.

RIP Hexus and Bit-Tech, you will be missed.
 
Think I was on hexus before OcUK but only slightly. My buy/sell on the selling forums started on hexus and we had Nochex back then if anyone remembers? :D

Was Nonchex where you would leaver buyer/seller feedback?
 
I remember Hexus gaining popularity during the mod ban happy period on OCUK.

I sometimes used it. didn't seem to have the same community as here. Of course being member gave free shipping from OCUK competitor so that was good. Took OCUK a long time introduce that.

As for not selling it. I remember running a small eCommerce store. There was guy in Canada interested in buying it, but the sums involved just made it not worth my time to facilitate the sale. So I shut it down, and re-purposed some of the content elsewhere.
