Moving into the outside lane of a dual carriage way kinda sweeping bend, behind a golf. We were doing around 40 accelerating up to 70.

Golf pulled away from us, a mondeo pulled out in the gap, (didnt cut me up) but then the golf came to a stop, queuing traffic ahead obviously neither me nor the mondeo saw.

Mondeo hit the golf I guess around 20-30 mph, I hit the mondeo maybe doing 10mph

Busy dual carriageway. I got out and said to both drivers, turn left at the roundabout (1/4 mile ahead) and pull over we'll deal with it there...

The mondeo disappeared into the traffic never to be seen again.

I spoke to the golf guy, we exchanged details, I gave him the reg of the mondeo.

So I am yet to speak to my insurance, but I cba to try and fix my car up myself. No idea if or how the mondeo guy would claim off me, I suspect he may not be insured.
Mine needs a bonnet, bumper, grills, and headlight
(Audi TTS)
Either way it'll be an insurance job.

Gah.

Yup, get on the bell to the old bill and report the Mondeo asap then just let your insurance sort out the rest I guess. It's what you pay for!

You called the police and your insurance right away yes?

No?

Oh dear

Yep, report to your insurer asap!

If you hit the back of the Mondeo then if they are insured your insurer will likely be asked to pay for the rear end damage to that vehicle (in addition to your own damage of course) - if they aren't insured then it's doubtful they will come looking for a claim but you never know!

Sounds like you got triggered by the Mondy taking your gap and accelerated up his rear, distracting him and then causing both of you to crash. Insta driving ban and a 24 hour ban from Motors imo.

Dash cam footage or bust

Not quite, I eased off when the mondeo filled the gap, learning point would be to restablish that gap more proactively though for sure.
It's a 1.8l mondeo and a golf gti were talking about here... hardly much of a chase tbh.

What do we want?! Dash Cam footage…. When do we want it? Now! :p

Is the car drivable or will you have to reschedule the hair dressing appointments in the short term?

Jokes aside, can only imagine how gutting this is for you and hope all is resolved quickly and hassle free.

Main thing is you aren’t hurt (What people tend to say to make you feel better)

Yeah, its taxed and insured too.

Annoyingly, re watching the footage, I was so close to stopping!

The mondeo might be insured, but doesn't mean the driver who was driving it at the time was insured.

Frankly, i'd strongly suspect the latter as i can't see any reason why you'd not stop at an accident if you are insured.

Also doesn't mean that Mondeo was insured, just a similar one.

Definitely report it to the police and your insurers. There is a possibility that the Golf's insurance company might try claiming from your insurance as the last car in the chain if they can't pin it on the Mondeo for any reason. So you definitely want to be informing them.

Something something op username something something Mondeo driver...there's a joke in there somewhere!
