AMD Accelerated Data Center Premiere Keynote @16:00 UK Time Today (Reminder)

Lmao- AMD is now making 560 watt TDP GPUs

is there no end to this madness won't someone think of the climate

47.9TF Double Precision.

To put that in to perspective the A100 is 19.5TF Double Precision at 400 Watts.

A 125% performance increase for 40% more power.

Oh... wait, i got that wrong, the A100 Double Precision is 9.7TF, vs 47.9TF, lol.

Now AMD are going for Nvidia's jugular.

I know and I mentioned that it's good perf/watt but still a lot of power - and that's the problem, for the last 3 or 4 years we keep getting higher and higher TDP cards and we just gulp it up and say thank you because the perf/watt is better than the previous year

You're right it is, but think of it this way, its takes 5 Nvidia A100 GPU's at 400 Watts each (2000 Watts) to complete the same task in the same time as a 560 Watt MI200.

That is a massive reduction in power needs, none of this is 'good' for the climate, but the MI200 reduces that carbon foot print massively, also by using less silicon and less components for less GPU's., a rack of 500 of A100 GPU's at 200KW now all you need is 100 MI200's at 56KW.

Wow the new HPC lineup from AMD looks like the offspring of King Kong and Godzilla when it comes to outright performance!

Just to think MCM designs are coming to RDNA in the not to distant future. It seems the only think holding back AMD is TSMC's manufacturing capacity, I don't know much about the HPC market but I would have though if the software and support was there from AMD CDNA2 could be a winner for them.

Nice Tree Python. I have always wanted to get a snake. All my reptiles have been lizards

Here is a picture of my current bioactive leopard gecko viv

Nice setup. My partner has a pair of females and happy to see you are not making the mistake to put them on a sand bedding :D as many seem to make that mistake. My partner rescued them from previous owner that had them on baking hot sand and of course stuck shed and all that and ingesting sand for sure and heatlamp and heat pads not on thermostats . She has them in a nice setup and she mists their enclosure from time to time and they are doing amazing from how they originally looked.

Yes AMD knocked it out of the park. Nvidia was boring as hell today with their GTC, mostly network gear and same old omniverse rubbish.

That's good to hear, sadly not all reptiles get out lucky :(
The only advice we as owners can keep giving is good info at the best to our understanding.

Geckos are such cool lizards, this is my first I did have an 18 year old Green Iguana sadly passed away a few years back.
