Lately I've been messing about a bit with my old laptop which has an 680m inside it. However when i try to install an updated driver i just get constant bsod. Anyone else had similar issues? it literally just runs off the default driver and i can't change it.

Which driver are you using? - I don't think 600 series are supported by the current 'main' nVidia drivers (496.49)

Using the dropdowns to select 600 notebook series on the nvidia site, it returns this one from 2019, so I assume that's the latest one supported....

I've got a laptop with a 660m myself and it plays games fine last I checked, I tend not to update drivers unless something is not working!

Yeah thats correct, the latest one is 2019. One im using was installed by windows from around 2017 i think, from a clean install

Can't seem to find my exact one as i have no nvidia control panel, but the date shows as 05/01/2017

ah OK, in that case, does the laptop have some sort of hybrid graphics thing going on (to switch between onboard CPU graphics and the dGPU)?
I think in the era my laptop was new it was called nVidia Optimus or something - I've always left that turned off as I had it plugged in 99% of the time.

When you say it BSODs constantly, do you mean litererally before you can get in to windows, or just very frequently?
Also have you tried linux or an older build of windows (7/8)?

If it's not the optimus thing I'd hazard a guess that it's either damaged in some way or overheating, if you haveen't already taken it apart and cleaned/re-pasted etc

Got to admit this is the first time I've heard of the optimus thing, so I'll have to have a look into it. I've tried different versions of windows as well and always end up with the same result.

The card runs completely fine as it is, I've tried it on several games etc no problem. So i can't see it being damaged.
