I do love our fans. Spend every summer complaining about our transfer dealings and then get upset when the man that oversaw all our transfer dealings leaves.
Him leaving is obviously not good news but it's not the end of the world nor is it likely to result in any major changes at the club. He was initially brought in by Comolli to improve the analytical side of our recruitment team and went on to put in place an entire team of eggheads, before then being promoted into a position that oversaw and linked together the entire recruitment process. The structure he set-up is now there and by promoting his assistant to replace him, not too much should change - the club will still be following the same processes as before.
As for what he'll do next. There's been a few links to Newcastle but those appear to have been rubbished. As good as he's been for us (and he's been very good), his future success will depend on who he's joining more than his own capabilities. If he joins a club with an ownership and or management team that don't share the same vision as him and aren't singing off the same hymn sheet then it won't work. We saw that when he tried to work with Rodgers.
