Firmino with a serious hamstring injury.

Balls

Thats bad news really, I guess that could be him out until the new year and then of course January comes and Mane and Salah are gone for a month to AFCON. Jota is of course an able replacement but are Origi and Minihonda good enough to carry us through that period

I dont think Bobby will be properly back till the end of January personally.

Mane, Salah, Keita and possibly Matip (although I'm 99% sure he's retired/doesn't want to be picked?) means we'll be very light without them.

Matip retired years ago, the national coach has tried on numerous occasions to get him back.

I'm still hopeful it won't go ahead :D

And why do you think that? Klopp said more than 4 weeks but also that Bobby is a quick healer. There's a big jump from 4 to 12 weeks.

Just a hunch really and the words used. A grade 2 tear is a 4 to 8 weeks recovery and its that 4 weeks minimum that makes me think its a really bad one. Couple that with recovery and I was thinking mid to end Jan.

He's done amazingly well for us, been in his role for 10 years and leaves at the very top of his game.

He could've stayed for another season or two but things are going to get rocky over the few years with a lot of the first team nearing or over 30 and Klopp leaving in 2024.

From his POV, he probably couldn't be leaving at a better time and a lot of clubs are going to be in for him if he chooses to remain in football :(

I do love our fans. Spend every summer complaining about our transfer dealings and then get upset when the man that oversaw all our transfer dealings leaves.

Him leaving is obviously not good news but it's not the end of the world nor is it likely to result in any major changes at the club. He was initially brought in by Comolli to improve the analytical side of our recruitment team and went on to put in place an entire team of eggheads, before then being promoted into a position that oversaw and linked together the entire recruitment process. The structure he set-up is now there and by promoting his assistant to replace him, not too much should change - the club will still be following the same processes as before.

As for what he'll do next. There's been a few links to Newcastle but those appear to have been rubbished. As good as he's been for us (and he's been very good), his future success will depend on who he's joining more than his own capabilities. If he joins a club with an ownership and or management team that don't share the same vision as him and aren't singing off the same hymn sheet then it won't work. We saw that when he tried to work with Rodgers.

Keita & Gomez are back in full training. I'd imagine that tomorrow will be too soon for them to be involved in the squad but Milan looks like a good opportunity to bring them back. Klopp said in his pre Everton press-conference that Firmino should be back in training next week so hopefully he'll be back in the mix maybe next weekend.

Another little bit of interesting news in the last few days. Claudio Taffarel (ex Brazil keeper and now their keeping coach) has joined the club and Klopp's confirmed today that John Achterberg has extended his contract. With Jack Robinson that's 3 goalkeeping coaches for the first team now which seems quite a lot. Klopp tried to explain the appointment today, saying that we have a number of young keepers on the fringes of the first team squad and with the first team so busy going from game to game, there's a need for another coach while the first team are away.
