Disposing of liquid fuel

Just having a clear out of the shed and I've noticed that there are 4 liquid fuel cannisters (decanted from the plastic ones into aluminium) with about a litre in total of Coleman fuel. It was used for a small camping stove (MSR XGK-EX). It's been in there untouched for about 5 years and to be honest I can't see it being used anything soon.

Despite it all being OK... for safety reasons I'd like to dispose of it. What's the easiest, safest and best legal way to do this?
Thanks.

Thanks people...... have confirmed that the local tip will take it.

Out of interest if I poured it into a suitable container and lit it how long would a litre take to burn off.

I remember being quite young when we siphoned the petrol out my mate's dad's lawn mower.

I can highly recommend not doing what we did to get rid of the evidence, putting it in a demi John and setting fire to it in the middle of a brook 'to stop the fire spreading if it gets out of hand'

We learned a lot of physics that day....
