My son wants a gaming pc to play games like COD and also do school work on. I don't have a clue about these things but my budget is £1000 with the ability to upgrade in the future.
Any help gratefully recieved.
Thanks

Would they consider a gaming laptop? If you need monitor and peripherals then you will probably do better with a laptop given current desktop GPU pricing. You will lose upgradability though.

I recently purchased a Legion 5 Pro for £900 stacking discounts which is a lot of hardware for the money.

I don't think a laptop would be good goto. Really wants a pc like his friend's.

Problem currently is the mad pricing of GPUs, even a 3060Ti is going to be over half your budget. Hell, just checked and even a 3060 is over £500.

You could go the Ryzen APU route with a 5700G with the option to add a better GPU if prices ever drop or you get lucky with the Nvidia FE cards. Will you be building it yourself?

Wouldn't have a clue how to build myself. Really looking for pre build or even refurbished.
Would a GTX1650 gpu be good enough for the time being until proceeds come down?

Personally I'd just get him a Lenovo Legion 5 with a 3060 and tell him to consider himself bloody lucky to have anything

If he must have a desktop I think there's a few AMD 6600 based prebuilt deals around the £800 mark that leaves room for an OK monitor.
