Hey,
I've just made an Ikea desk from a 'Karlby walnut top' with Alex drawers - and in order to try and prevent sagging, I've purchased 2 heavy duty steel slotted channel lengths (reddit advice, seemed sensible...).
I'm stuck at how to fix these to the wood though? Thickness of the wood is 3.5cm, so I would need screws no longer than 1.75cm?
But the main problem is how I screw them in, see pics below - but I think I would need at least M12 washers for the slots, how can I get a 1.75cm long wood screw in with those? Hopefully there's a solution?
The slots are 1.5cm x 2.6cm, lengths are 1.7m i.e. full gap between the drawers.

Any advice?
