Why are people acting like the Chinese government has bumped her off? She is just keeping a low profile and has been removed from state controlled social media.

Because she claimed she was sexually abused by someone senior in the government and then disappeared with no contact. People know what the Chinese government are like when you openly criticise them so people were rightly concerned.
Even now even though she has been seen on a video giving a statement she is ok, people are not convinced it wasn’t controlled by the government. I think that’s the general gist of it.
