RTX 2060 relaunch ; TLDR - its a mining card!

It has no official MSRP either, so they'll be priced through the roof anyway. Just another PR exercise for Nvidia to make it look like they're doing something to help you out without actually having to do anything.

To me it makes no sense, except for being in keeping with the dude making it up for content and pretending he has "sources". Why does Nvidia need to pretend and do this smoke show if they want to sell mining cards? Last I checked that's not illegal & it wouldn't be the first time they do (or admit) it. Furthermore no point in it being 12 GB when 6 GB will do that job just as well.

This story just reeks.

The only reason I could see for it to be 12gb is if they are using different faster modules - several ways to achieve the outcome but if memory bandwidth is higher then I could understand- but yeah 12gb without an increase in bandwidth would not do anything for ETH mining

I paid not a lot more for a 3070. I’m absolutely shocked to see the state of pricing after all this time.

This 3070 will be my last gpu for quite a while I think.

Me too, I'm set for 2 years at least now. I wanted 12GB a year ago, I wasn't spending what it took to get it, but I have a 12GB card now and enpugh profit for new CPU maybe 5800X in NY.

I've still got a 1060 and there are just no compelling upgrade options at all, not at these prices. I'd love to get a new monitor but my current GPU will begin to struggle at 1440p so I'm a bit stuck.

i can see the rtx2060 12gb selling for the same price as the rtx 3060 12gb not much in it from a performance view so what ever the mark ups are on the 3060 will be the same for 2060 12gb and yes this will be a good card for the miners. Unless Nvidia have very high numbers available for the AIB`s stock will not last long.

Only benefit presumably is that the 2060 is using 12nm fab capacity somewhere rather than anything newer

I had assumed the point was, that it would still be on the older process, that wouldn't be tied up like the newer one. If it is indeed the new process, then the only entity to benefit is Nvidia.

I've seen a couple of benchies done on Y/T showing its about 25% slower( obviously game dependent) than a 3060 and its gonna cost how much? (no-one knows yet as theres sod all info about it other than specs and no reviews that I can find. Looks like a a bit of a fail if you ask me.

As others have said it smells more like a card targeted at miners, what with it being on a larger node size and having some resale value on the 2nd hand market. I suspect their CMP cards haven't been selling because they're MSRP is high and they've got no resale value, they also eat into current gen fab capacity.

To me these are aimed at miners and will turn up on the second hand market in a few years, suits me even if they only relive a tiny bit of pressure on the supply side of things.

It doesn't seem like it was ever a serious product launch. It "launched" yesterday, yet nowhere is actually selling them. I'm sure any that were available went straight to miners by the pallet-load before ever hitting retail channels. That's a win for Nvidia and AIBs.

This. How people worship nvidia is beyond words.
