The Manchester United Club Thread

Yeah, my dad is like that. Turned 75 last month and is still doing consulting work for the like of JLR and Wheetabix and being flown out to Asia for conferences (at least when that was an option!)

Quite impressive to be honest!

We can wait for The Running Man to return, ignore everything and complain about something else...

There are lots of examples. One relevant to this case is Dietrich Mateschitz, or Helmut Marko? 77/78 respectively. Running large successful global sports companies, of which Rangnick & co have been involved.

Want to answer my manager question now?
Wasting your time robbo nick just moans if it's not sancho it's a coach he will find something else to moan about next week he's always moaning

Oh come on this is ridiculous and you're also avoiding any questions back at you.

If anything it can be very easily argued that the below roles are trickier than football. And the below are 'full time' compared to Man Utd's recent appointment of light consultancy on their structure. The bloke is not going to be kicking a football around is he.

The below are the result of a 5 second google and drop in to make a point.

As said above by Robbo, its perfectly fine and normal.

Both candidates have been raising concerns about the other’s fitness, relying on common tropes about age and disability; Trump’s campaign has even depicted Biden in a wheelchair as an elderly and disabled potential resident in a senior home,

These are exactly the age range of candidates we need for top roles at the club.

Most of the examples you gave are literally cronyism or bloodline, imagine pointing out Queen Elizabeth as an example. She's doing the job because of birthright.

Those sporting giants, Weetabix? I've literally heard it all now.

Name some 75 year olds who are top of their game in a sporting capacity.

I see you ignored my post with relevant examples, as usual.

I wonder at what point we have to conclude you are just deliberately antagonising people. Although that ship seems to have sailed…

The requirements of the job is not to know how to do the cogs of the business but to manage the people who do that and get the right people doing the right things. Being a sport or not doesn't really matter. I manage people for a living and have changed places 5 times over the past 14 years. You get the basics of what you need to know over a couple of months. The most important part is the knowledge of managing people and knowing how to improve and get the best out of them. Whether it is being the head of a sporting organisation or the head of Weetabix the same applies.

Indeed...

Manchester United can confirm that following PCR test confirmation of yesterday’s positive LFT Covid-19 cases among the first team staff and players, the decision has been taken to close down first team operations at the Carrington Training Complex for 24 hours, to minimise risk of any further infection.

Brighton having some covid problems too and we play them on Saturday.

I can see a lot of scheduling issues coming up...

I get the feeling United are trying to weasel out of it but the PL are insisting they play. Their flight down from Manchester to Luton planned for tomorrow morning. Be interesting to see if they arrive.

Good news for me. Got an appointment this afternoon that would have meant me turning up to the stadium tonight half asleep!

Perhaps a bit harsh, we might have a significant number of players/staff who are unavailable or unwell.

Great interview with Ralf about Martial. Snippet below but clearly not being pushed around/bowing to agents.

He is very likeable isn't he. :o

People also need to remember he's used to working at every level within a club, he's not really just here as a manager.

Maybe - we've not heard much. We were without 3 first team players last match due to Covid, so I suppose it depends on who's been vaccinated.

My understanding was that if a team had 13 available players (those with at least 1 senior league appearance) then the game had to go ahead.

Tbh it's better for me that this gets played another date as I was really 50:50 about going. That said, United were seemingly outplayed by Norwich last week, so it would have been a good time to have played them at home.
