Is £950 a good price for a new Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3070 AORUS MASTER 8GB GDDR6 LHR Graphics Card Brand New.

I'm getting list with TI cards being faster but with less VRAM, and the same class of card having more RAM.

Or do I wait for the next series of cards to come out?

Thats only a -good- OK price in the following circumstances:

a) Price isn't really an object to you.

or;

b) You intend to mine on it + game on it + you are abusing land lord power terms / or are heating by elec not gas.

and;

c) you don't think you stand a chance on future Nvidia founders drops.

The MSRP is £529
You've seen one for £950

They are the facts. It's down to whether you can justify paying that price. Whether you'll be happy with it.

Some people justify it because they saved over a £1000 by not having a holiday during lockdown.

There's no correct answer to your question unfortunately. You need to decide yourself.

This time next year you'll be able to buy a card that's twice as fast and with double the vram for £950. Up to you if the waiting is worth it or not.

Afternoon All,

Thanks for the advice, I can wait, and it makes sense as prices will hopefully drop and as mentioned a new card will be out!

Thanks all!

Or can try for founders edition drops at MSRP , you can join groups that will alert you when they drop

This ....^ .. best advice is try to get a FE card at MSRP if you can and really your 2060 will be fine for now while waiting to grab an FE. Only other option is basically paying 2x for an AIB card.

I would argue however that if you can sell your 2060 for around £450 it would not be a bad buy, I know others have had bad experiences but I have sold over 6 cards on the bay over the years and never had an issue. Last one was a Vega 56 for around £400 in Feb which meant my RX6800 only cost £400. Not sure I would pick a 3070 though with 8gb but that's just me and I am sure it would be fine

And just imagine he did sell that 2060 for around 450 quid after getting lucky in an FE drop, he could upgrade to the 3070 for a net spend of 19 quid..

MSRP of any gpu right now is an utter work of fiction - if you are able to use a bot or an app you might get one every 2 months in a 10 second window. Otherwise, the price you quoted OP, is what they are selling at in teh real world.

Is not as hard as you imagine , pretty sure they have anti bot measures in place I myself and know quite a few that got them it took me good 10 mins to complete check out once adding it into basket and that was the 3080

It's just about being patient and having the alerts set up and have access to phone when they drop to complete the checkout

The OP doesn't seem to be in any rush so makes even more sense to try for one

It is that hard, ive been trying for one for 6 months (a 3090), but i work and with limited access to a phone

yeah if you dont have access to phone you gonna be stuck , also the easier ones to get on drops are the 3080ti and 3090 these have stayed instock for upto 1 hour few times and dont sell out in seconds , last drop was on 23rd November at 7.56pm and they didnt sell out instantly , most of the drops have been between 9am-12pm
