Car Accident Scenario?

So wife has just had an accident at a nearby roundabout with a bus and just wondered in this scenario who is at faut:

- Wife on third lane on roundabout wanting to go straight ahead but theres traffic so is stationary waiting to drive straight ahead.
- Bus drives across her but the rear end of the bus catches the car bumper.

When i got there the bus driver implied that wife was at fault as shes in the wrong lane but i said it was irrelevant as she was stationary. The good news is that the bus has a couple of dash cams so would be interesting to hear your thoughts.

If she was stationary, then it's the bus driver's fault. Imagine if she'd broken down in the middle of the road and the bus smashed into the back of her car, would it still be her fault then?

i said it was irrelevant as she was stationary

Correct. Regardless of her intent to exit the roundabout she was stationary at the time of the accident so its on the bus drive.

When it comes to making the claim, make sure to leave out the intention to lane change/pull off part, keep it factual that she was stationary and the bus driver hit her stationary car.

As above, don't unnecessarily overshare. She was stationary. She was hit. Simple.

No witnesses, everyone on the bus didnt see it as it was the rear that caught the vehicle. The damage is pretty much on the edge of the bottom front corner bumper which does suggest that it was crashed into.

so she had the right of way, anyway, being on the roundabout , and would have had the right to be moving, whilst he should have been taking extra caution if joining/cutting across to get to his exit -
did you report it to the police anyway - he wasn't taking care - perhaps your/his insurance would respect such an action.

Toto Wolff was shouting at the bus driver, just as he swerved into the stationary car:

"No Mikey, no Mikey!"

This but its pretty much below one of the cameras just after the rear wheel, hoping that its managed to capture everything. I'm kinda expecting there to be a fight with this but lets see.

There shouldn't really be a fight for it. You might not get to see the footage, but your insurance company will see and be able to make judgement.

Sounds like a typical impatient bus driver to me.
