Hello.. sorry been out of the pc gaming arena for a while.. so looking either for a pre build or to do myself but I play a lot of F1 on ps4 but looking to get into 4k so switch to pc seems a good idea.. what spec PC would comfortably play that in 4k and also games like assetts corsa. Budget around £1200 to £1800 if that's a tall possible.. or atleast a machine that I could just upgrade GC in the future but the rest of the pc could handle 4K when the time comes.. thanks in advance.

Does that budget include the monitor (will you be playing on the TV?) and steering wheel?

You've just missed the drops of the RTX 30X0 FE cards. The RTX 3060 Ti FE went for £369. You need to sign up for FE PartAlert on Telegram.

You should be fine on your budget. Look at the 11400, 16 or 32 GB RAM, a B560 motherboard, M.2 drive, and a modestly decent case.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £583.64 (includes shipping: £11.70)

You can probably do better on the M.2 drive - I'm not particularly knowledgeable there. That PC absolutely needs a GPU because the CPU has no onboard graphics. In the current circumstances I would make sure I had successfully ordered a graphics card before ordering the rest of the PC.

Intel should be releasing the 12400 CPUs and B660 motherboards sometime soon. £600 for the system and £400-£600 for the GPU is comfortably in budget.

I'll leave recommendations for the wheel and monitor to others.

This looks as if it could get the job done and offer reasonably decent frame rates at 4K in most games. I’m not sure how it would get on with F1 at 4K though.

Thanks both very kind.. Quartz.. what frame rate you think for the GC you chose in 4k.. also I will be playing on a TV so budget is for PC only. Others I know have said I need a 3080 for 4k gaming... that not the case ?

You are mainly playing an older game and a 3060 Ti will play Assetto Corsa at 4k 60 fps. Remember that you don't need to play at the highest settings. You don't lose that much by dropping to High or Medium settings and RTX isn't going to do much for you.

Here is Assetto Corsa with ultra settings getting 50+ fps on a 3060 Ti:

Here is F1 2020 getting over 90 fps at 4k with ultra settings on a 3060 Ti:

The Ryzen 3600 is much of a muchness with the Intel 11400 for games.

The more power the better, of course; your budget can handle a 3080 FE card anyway. Other games may indeed require a 3080 for 4k but again, you don't need to run the game at the highest settings.

Cyberpunk 2077 runs at 44 fps on a 3060 Ti at 4k with high settings and DLSS set to Quality mode:

Both the new consoles will easily do 4K and at a much more cost effective level than a PC, plenty of stock around right now at MSRP it seems.

I am not sure I would say "easily", but OK.
I'm pretty sure they handle 4K with good fps in the racing type games that OP likes to play, F1 2021 for example will do ether 4K 60 fps or 4K 120fps while assetto corsa competizione will run 4K 60fps with improved visuals although this is just an enhanced version rather than a full next gen title.

I was thinking more in general, but in any case I think none of them can do 4K 120hz. Not that you could expect it at that price to be honest.

Some games have a performance mode feature which runs at 4K 120hz so that's why a lot of people go for the 4K 120hz OLEDs as the TV of choice although it's more of a dynamic resolution similar to how DLSS and FSR work for GPUs but that said a lot of games won't even do 4K 120hz native on the top tier GPUs without either FSR or DLSS as we are still a generation away.
