11th Gen i7 or 12th Gen i5?

Hi all,

I'm new to PC gaming and looking to purchase my first PC.

Do I go with the 11th Gen i7 or 12th Gen i5?
Both will be with The GTX 3070TI GPU and 16gb ram.

Thoughts, advice?

12th gen offers much more its a no brainer although gaming at 4k is gpu dependent.

12th gen..not only does it beat 11th gen i7, you'll be able to upgrade to 13th gen down the line, something you cant do with 11th gen. 12 gen also means z690 board, so gpu slot is gen5 for future gpu futureproofing, and also has more m.2 nvme slots.
I'd also consider 32gb ram as prices pretty good at mo, and who knows ram usage in a couple of years..that and the switch to ddr5 prob means ddr4 prices increase as production decreaes

12th gen, but save some cash and get a DDR4 motherboard.

AMD may have there 3d cache Cpu released by then so check again before buying.

Keep a look out for Asus promotions... They generally have 1 every quarter.. Last one just finished gave £60 rebate off midrange board if biught with a 12600 cpu.
Ocuk are listed as a retailer but theyre pretty bad at advertising the offers
You get AMD offers too(got £50 rebate on my b550 gaming e board when i bought mine last year)
